I agree with the reviews. When I read the user reviews and see a 5.0 review for a Pokemon game, I don't instantly get pissed at the user, I usually go and read their review to see exactly why they gave the review they did. Most times people have a reason for why they are rating a game low, even if it is an enjoyable game.
The problem is you're focussing on the numbers, instead of the actual written review. But for the most part I agree, a lot of lower rated games I have more fun with, but it tends to be more mindless fun and the games aren't as polished as a triple A games.I used to rely on reviews back then when deciding what games to buy, but now reviews is not helping anymore there are alot of games below 7 in score that I enjoyed more than the 9 and above.

I focus more on the content of the review rather than the actual score. I even bought Lost Planet 2 despite it getting a 5.5 here. I read/watched the review and the flaws that were show didn't seem too bad to me so I still went ahead and bought it. Personally, I would give the game a 7
reviews are, i dont know how to say this but "the majority's opinion" and the minority might like games like dynasty warriors that many dont like.LenGen
No they aren't the majority opinion. Each review is the opinion of one person, with no more credibility than any other shmo who plays games. The majority may agree with them, but that would be tough to prove.
The thing with reviews is that some things that bother the reviewer may not bother others. For instance with the god of war 3 review, some of the cons were that it wasn't as diverse and GOW2 and the story didn't pick up till the end. Both of these did not bother me, however in the end I could see how the review could say that.
Generally you have to read the review and think " will this bother me?" if not go ahead and get the game.
i care for reviews only when i'm on the fence. However, the reviews of the latest NFS HP made a buyer:P
yes this. reviews do help. if you were a fan of a franchise and lost interest because of lack luster intries then reviews can definetly bring you back to it if a new release shines then thier previews installments. and for new IPs is also a good guidei care for reviews only when i'm on the fence. However, the reviews of the latest NFS HP made a buyer:P

I have to disagree with this. Most of the time, its better to do the research yourself, read the reviews, watch videos, get thoroughly informed before making a purchasing decision. If you try it and hate it before you did research, who's gonna put it back on the shelf besides Gamestop (unless you rented it of course). then you just wasted $30-$70.[QUOTE="Calvin079"]

Ive been gaming longer than most reviewers. I know what I will like and what I wont. I judge for myself. Do yourself a favore....NEVER listen to OR care what others say about a game you think you will be interested in. Try it yourself.

Im saying rent it from your local movie store, gamefly,ect..not purchase it. AND back in the day when I started gaming...You HAD to buy first. Yes...IM talking to you ET for Atari 2600!!!
I know. I never knew of any rental place until a few years ago. Thats why when even to this day when I buy a game I make sure its somethign I'll really really like. The content of a review itself is what I usually look at. The mechanics and functions of certain features, what the game contains and whether it works right or not etc. I take the score itself with a grain of salt, especially with the 7.5 given to New Vegas. I love the game and am able to overlook all the bugs that it contained on release, despite that being the main drawback related to the score given here on GameSpot.
