Poll GAMEPLAY OR GRAPHIC? (122 votes)

gameplay 85%
graphic 15%

Hello everyone, i want to see your opinion here.

Which one do you prefer in a game or the one that you think is the most important element in a game, gameplay, or graphic?

In my opinion, its gameplay. Just look at Crysis, it has graphic, but no gameplay. Just a mediocre generic shooter where you shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, and throw grenade. And the game that i think has gameplay here - for example - is UC4

Start from the car chase scene, that scene where you dragged in a mud, the collapsing tower, all the puzzle solving gameplay, all better than Crysis's gameplay. Naughty dog just beat Crytek in gameplay creation skill. Crytek should just learn from ND on how to craete gameplay IMHO. instead of creating game with beautiful picture and less brainwork, they should make one with fun gameplay.

what is your opinion? post your comment below.

OP didn't play Crysis.

It's amazing how Crysis makes console fanboys dance since 2007!

Naughty Dog copied lots of ideas from other games like Resident Evil 4, Gears, Tomb Raider series.

I get both on the best selling console on the market, the ps4. So why choose? Choosing between gameplay and graphics is mainly for Nintendo systems because they're unable to do graphics.

Both preferably.

Depends in some cases though, some genres dont need high fidelity graphics with all the most advanced bells and whistles. And if they are going for a more artistic look or indie look, then they just have to look pleasing.

Gameplay first, then graphics.

Let me put it to you this way; as far as I'm concerned, if it looks as good as or better than Unreal Tournament 2004, I can play it. A pretty game that plays like crap, though, I'll drop like a stone.

Graphics can be important to certain types of games, but they aren't very important to me as a general rule. If a game is ugly, but has cool gameplay or an interesting story or some other redeeming value, I'll probably enjoy it.

The interactive aspects of a game are important to me.

I'll take graphics.

Without them you'd just be staring at a blank screen.

But seriously, I don't think people realize just how important graphics actually are to games. Entirely new genres have been created simply because new advances in graphics allow them to exist.

People just like to tip their fedoras, and act like gameplay exists in one bubble, and graphics exist in another when in reality the gameplay bubble resides wholly within the graphical bubble of gaming. You have to have a base graphical level for any set of gameplay ideas to exist.

A better question to ask if people really prefer story/cutscenes above anything else.

Gameplay all the way, what is the use of having a game with superb graphics but is unplayable. I remember buying WWE RAW on the original Xbox which looked awesome but gameplay wise was awful compared to the WWE smackdown game back in 2003 which both games were made by the same company at the time THQ (RIP).

Although having both is a win.

Most people will say gameplay, even though they only talk about graphics here. And you are out of your mind if you think Crysis is just a tech demo. Most people don't believe that (as we've noticed in my Crysis thread where 95% said it had great gameplay). Your Uncharted 4 example sucks.

I love Uncharted 4 but Crysis and Crysis Warhead kick Uncharted 4 in teeth when it comes to gameplay. Crysis was a complete package, a beautiful sandbox game with phenomenal gameplay. There is no FPS like it out there. There are plenty of cover based shooters like Uncharted. Remove its story element and it'll become a mediocre shooter.

Uncharted 4 is great because of overall package, like story, characters and graphics. Crysis had silly story but it was amazing because of its gameplay and even if Crysis had crappy graphics, it would still be a fantastic game because of its gameplay and great design.

@bunchanumbers: of course they do. graphics is atmosphere and atmosphere is gameplay, or at least what improves it. There is no 3D game that wouldn't benefit from prettier graphics. That goes to games like Mario as well, and no, mario doesn't need to look like a human aka "realistic"... you can retain the same artstyle but add a boatload of details to the world and use god damn AA, a thing Nintendo never even heard off of (tons of jaggies in every single Nintendo game).

First of all, your opinion on Uncharted and Crysis sucks ass, and you seem to have absolutely terrible taste in games.

To answer your question, it will always be gameplay.

Sony on the other hand when it comes to gameplay SUX!! Uncharted 4 got turned into a walking simulator and QTE boss fights with half the game having NO gunplay. Borezone Shadowballs, Drivedud, Until Yawn, The Oder, SF5, all had good graphics but the gameplay was a Pile of PUKE!!!

gears= "shoot and throw greanade" games, generic shooter.

Forza = generic racing games (i dont see the difference with any other racing games),

recore and scalebound, arent out yet, so you are made up things here.

Quantum shit? look at Angry Joes review. A generic game with tv series as cutscene (dont have money??),

Sunset overdrive = a game from a developer that making lots of exclusive games for playstation? thats your best game?

killer instinct = overrated generic fighting games.

how is uc4 a walking simulator? qte boss fight? i think you are mistaking quantum break for uc4. uc4 has great action, Start from the crazy car chase gameplay, that scene where Nate dragged in a mud, the collapsing tower gameplay, all the puzzle solving gameplay, all better than Crysis's gameplay. That really depends on how far down the rabbit hole you want to go. did it copy Wolfenstein 3D because it's an fps game? Crysis added a lot of unique and new ideas to the game as well as adding and improving things that were individual features in other games.

New ideas

  • Adaptable powers in the form of suit abilities (Strength, Speed, Armour, Stealth).
  • The ability to change weapon configurations on the fly to fit the situation and how you wanted to tackle it.
  • The ability to distract A.I. through the use of decoys (e.g. blow up a barrel at the other side of a camp and they'd head in that direction)

Improved and enhanced features

  • Adaptable A.I. who would retreat to gain help from allies and hunt you down.
  • Collapsible buildings (great for killing bad guys inside)
  • Destroyable cover and foliage
  • Shoot though walls, with the rounds being affected in different ways by different materials

Neither of those are exhausted list, just some examples.

Now can you name one feature that Uncharted 4 has introduced to it's genre, or even one that it does better than any other game?

Graphics don't matter really it's only in the beginning when you first start playing that it makes a difference that's why you can go back to old games and enjoy them even though the graphics are so bad

OH WOW, ahahahaha.... nice joke pal. Your stand up comedy is really amusing. LoL

suit abilities that add strength, speed, armour, and stealth? yeah, please go play RPG games

wtf did u mean by "The ability to change weapon configurations on the fly to fit the situation and how you wanted to tackle it." wtf????

distracting AI? wtf??????? do you really think they invented it? are you supid? its on many games before cryshit. try to play Manhunt pal. Jezzus christ!!

allies who retreat to gain help is not invented nor innovated nor improved by cryshit, its everywhere.

collapsing fuking buildings is everywhere on many games, gosh! Lol

shoot through walls? what kind of shit is that? a feature for pussy?

here is the deal : go play more games, old games before 2007, okay. did you live under a big rock, or in a rural remote village back in the day before crysis came out? you lived in a village with no electricity aand internet? cause your sad sad comment really shows that. the way you claim crysis invented/innovated those shit really shows that you have no knowledge in gaming

Uncharted has weak gameplay mechanics, that's why no one is left on it's shit multiplayer. The same simply isn't any fun to play

Gameplay but graphics are also important. Even in a 2d game if you don't have decent pixel art it detracts from the experience.

@xbhonner: You obviously haven't played Crysis. Go find some proper material and come back when you can construct an actual reply without throwing two bit insults about, it's detrimental to any kind of discussion and portrays a general lack of intelligence.

I'll drop this gameplay video in, even though I know you won't watch it.

Loading Video...

Please name one game from 2007, or earlier that has all the same features I listed. You appear to think they are common in loads of games, so it shouldn't be a problem.

A little advice for you, being a troll is one thing but making yourself out to be ignorant, for sake of trolling, is a rather asinine thing to do.

Game play its sort of obvious, but what I don't get is why can't we have both. Take The Witcher 3 for example. The game is gorgeous (on PC didn't play it on console) and has really good game play. Uncharted 4 is gorgeous with good game play. Sunset Overdrive was a ton of fun and had a great art style as well. This question then kind of becomes stupid when you think of it like that. Yes there are nice looking games with great game play and there are also ugly games with game play. That said people who say game play I bet wouldn't touch a game like Undertale because its ugly but it has really good game play. People complain about indies that have good game play and subpar graphics.

They're better than their PS4 Counter parts

Gears >>> Uncharted

Forza >> Gran Turd-ismo

KI >> Street Flopper V

QB>>> Corridor 1886

Sunset>>Infamous Second Shit

Uncharted has weak gameplay mechanics, that's why no one is left on it's shit multiplayer. The same simply isn't any fun to play

Truth hurts, I know, but it is what it is

the ps4 counter parts are better

uc >>>>>>> halo/gears

GT >>>>>> Forza

SF >>>>>>> Killer Flop

though i agree that : the order ====== Quantum Shit Break

sunset : a game from a dev that has been creating games for ps since years ago. so this is your best game? pathetic?

uncharted has better gameplay, it has breath taking actionuc4 has great action, Start from the crazy car chase gameplay, that scene where Nate dragged in a mud, the collapsing tower gameplay, all the puzzle solving gameplay, all better than Crysis's gameplay. Naughty dog just beat Crytek in gameplay creation skill. Crytek should just learn from ND on how to create gameplay IMHO. instead of creating game with beautiful picture and less brainwork, they should make one with fun gameplay. I think acording to you, good gameplay is "SHOOT AND THROW GRENADE ALL DAY LOOONG".

truth hurts, but that just the way it is. "SHOOT AND THROW GREANADE ALL DAY LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG" LOL

A little advice for you, being a troll is one thing but making yourself out to be ignorant, for sake of trolling, is a rather asinine thing to do.

jESUS CHRIST, DUDE. that video just confirm that Crysis is "SHOOT, SHOOT, SHOOT, SHOOT, SHOOT, SHOOT, SHOOT, SHOOT, AND THROW GREANADE". It even makes me think that you are the one who never play Crysis. Lol. wow, haha

construct a replay without throwing 2 bit insult? did you talk to the crysis fanboys here, or me? i dont know.

i already explain it, i know you didnt read it, did you?:

suit abilities that add strength, speed, armour, and stealth? yeah, please go play RPG games. Its on many games before crysis. Jezuz christ!

wtf did u mean by "The ability to change weapon configurations on the fly to fit the situation and how you wanted to tackle it." wtf????

distracting AI? wtf??????? do you really think they invented it? are you supid? its on many games before cryshit. try to play Manhunt pal. Jezzus christ!!

allies who retreat to gain help is not invented nor innovated nor improved by cryshit, its everywhere. Its on many games before cryshit

collapsing fuking buildings is everywhere on many games, gosh! Lol

shoot through walls? what kind of shit is that? a feature for pussy?

a little advice for you, trolling is bad, just look at crysis fanboys in this thread, xbox fanboys, and many other fanboys. And one more little advice for you, im not trolling, just stating fact that Crysis is a game where you "SHOOT, SHOOT, SHOOT, SHOOT, SHOOT, SHOOT, SHOOT, SHOOT, SHOOT, SHOOT, SHOOT, AND THROW GREANADE"

I can do that. That chest hair..................

On topic, loving how Crysis make consolites and especially cows dance still today and LOL at the TC calling DowngradeCharted 4 having any gameplay.

crysis : shoot, and throw greanade

uc series : shoot, throw grenade, solving lots ancient ruin of puzzle, breath taking gameplay (fight enemies while dangling on a plane cargo on uc3, train scene in uc2, dragging gameplay scene in uc4, dialog selection, etc.

ND is clearly different from Crytek, and has more skill on gameplay creation

It completely depends on the type of game. Walking sim or most any sim for that matter, then graphics are the huge influence of immersion. Action, platformer..etc then gameplay. But if a game sets out to be realistic in some fashion then obviously both are usually required. You wouldn't want to play Halo if the polygons and textures looked like Drakkhen or Starfox on SNES

Well, no wonder developers no longer design games with good gameplay and rather choose to dumb down the even the establish franchises. Any consoLOLite still want to dispute the fact that consoles are the sole reason for dumbing down gameplay because the audience is too stupid?
