u dun have to put an article to prove it lol captain obvious, look at the games , price, the support etc .. its very clear that vita is doomedpolFdrawykSWhile it probably won't beat 3ds. Psp's 70million is better than most of the home consoles did and far from doomed.
lol I got an iPad 2 with my 3DS money, so much fun and all-round awesomeness. Still getting a 3DS when the revision comes though, as well as Vita 2.0It's true. The Playstation Vita has no games and never will, I might as well just go buy a Kindle Fire with the money that I had reserved for it.
DerpyMcDerp
The price is pretty reasonable in my opinion. How cheap can he expect it to be?
The memory card prices do suck, and the lack of a solution for UMD owners is unfortunate, but there wasn't one with the Go either, so this shouldn't come as a surprise.
I don't know how the thing will do at retail, but it certainly looks like a very capable device. The only problem is the audience may or may not need such a capable device. Portable games attract a different sort of gamer, and that sort of gamer may be perfectly satisfied with Fruit Ninja on his/her Iphone/Android.
It's not even about PS3 games, it's the Vita games and the fact that handhelds are just much more convenient in general than home consoles hooked up to TV and only able to play on TV.[QUOTE="SaltyMeatballs"][QUOTE="ActionRemix"]Playing a normal PS3 game is a relatively large time commitment. How often are you in a situation outside of your home where you have the time to play a level of Uncharted? iOS/Android portable games thrive because they're designed to be played in increments of five minutes or less.Heirren
I don't understand what you are getting at. Console games on a portable just don't work that well, generally. Especially today, where the "big" visual and sound is the "in" thing. I like Uncharted--it is a very good game, but the senses are GREATLY increased by having a proper a/v setup. I own a psp--probably the biggest waste on a console. The loading on sports games was just unacceptable.
I'm not sure about that. Console games never worked on the PSP due to less control options, it really shouldn't be a problem with the Vita. I was talking about how handhelds are more pick-up-and-play friendly than a home console.[QUOTE="thatisfalse"]the guy says the Vita's going to imitate smartphones, but its smartphone functionality will revolve around gaming, and mainly/only gaming, that's the difference. the writer would fit right in with system war trolls here in game spot. also, people just don't seem to realize all possibilities of the Vita, they think it's just a PSP super plus. I disagree with his article completely.ActionRemixIt's a portable PS3, something very few people actually want.
It's just a hardware, it can be used to port PS3 games, but no body force developers to do so. If this suppose to be portable PS3 they would not instal whole motion controls touch pads, GPS and all that, it's useless for haveing something in portable PS3 that PS3 don't have
The pricey memory sticks is dumb and plain stupid, in the age of cheap memory storage Sony will really sell memories more expensives than the actual games?
Another one of my concerns is the way some people could look at the Vita as nothing else than a Portable PS3.
Aside from that, it could do very well, just like the PSP did.

madsnakehhh
Well MemorySticks that they would use insted are also as expensive as games, large sizes are even more expensive then PS3 games
it could do very well, just like the PSP did.madsnakehhhThe passive aggressive trolling is cute, but don't think for a second that isn't painfully obvious.
Wait, let me get this straight, there isn't even a tiny bit of storage within the system?
Heirren
Well i bet there is, for firmware use, somewhere settings need to be saved, but it's probably few MBs. I would be not supprice to see integrated storage in future models
I'm not getting a Vita at launch that's for sure, I don't care if it has Uncharted or not, I will wait and see if the system will get improved or not. Because currently it uses memory cards (sold seperately) and it has like a 3 hour battery life, just like 3DS. And you can't change the battery either, that being said I don't think the system is doomed or anything like that. It just needs some changes.
Same goes for 3DS, I would like to buy one later but it's current model isn't worth it IMO. And the 3D hurts.

So the PSP didn't sell well? :?
I would never buy a 3ds that's a piece of junk not even built to play first person shooters i might buy a vita someday i know ill never buy a 3ds though.
- It's expensive - I don't think the PS Vita is expensive for what it is offering. Don't forget, this is a mobile gaming device which you will probably have much longer than a smart phone.
- Battery life - This applies to all mobile devices. If you only want to watch videos you get 5h, listening to music 9h, gaming 3-5 hours. Smart phones and 3DS are no different.
PS One compatibility - Who cares on launch? I will be playing Vita games. I think this only affects a minority.
Pay for UMD games - They have to port the games to a new platform. This does cost money, because the PS Vita is a new console with a new architectur. Full backwards compatibility for free would be a nice feature, but honestly: I want to play Vita games on my Vita, not PSP games. The other option would be, to raise the entry price for the PS Vita and make full backwards compatibility available. I don't want that.
Launch titles - Seriously, what the hell is wrong with the author? Weak launch titles? Did he drink?
Save location - I fail to see how this is a problem.
Memory cards - Yes they are expensive. But Sony will not make much profit from the PS Vita alone, if they make any at all. So they have to take this route, and honestly I don't have a big problem with that. I will buy a memory card once, and then I will stream my media from my PS3.
The PS Vita has several cool features which he didn't even mention. For example that you can connect to your PS3 at home over the Internet (Wifi, not sure about 3G) to access your media library and stream music and movies to you? I mean how cool is this? I have an 2TB hdd connected to my PS3, and now I can have this data in my pocket. Or the new remote play feature - play your PS3 games while your gf is watching TV. PS Vita will rock!

Great, now I don't have to type this. I could not agree more.
since doom the fps genre has been the most dominant genre and my favorite you even got melee combat first person games like hexen that game kicked ass.

Thats actually not porting problem, Vita is fully cbackword compatible with PSP, simply Vita will only support PSP games in DD and not thole libery is avable thru DD on PSP due fact that DD been added to PSP in the middle of generation and Vita don't have UMD reader (which is dead and unflexable format as cartgareges).
Lack of save management might confuse people where there data is stored, but i aggree that this might not be major problem or something
[QUOTE="soulitane"][QUOTE="hakanakumono"]Where I am the listed price is pretty damn expensive, it costs $450 without a memory card or game, that's a little bit cheaper than a 360 which comes with quite a few games. While I know it's not like that everywhere but it is here :P They will have a bundle with memory card and game for $350 That's in the USA, I'm not from the USA so I don't really know how that helps me.It's funny how complaints about things are predefined. The Vita is not expensive. And yet, it was expected to be expensive and the complaints are following that train.

quake, duke nukem,turok,007,perfect dark just to name a few were plenty of shooters before halo .
Sony had the best chance to finally show Nintendo who's boss with the Vita but they let their arrogance and incompetence dull their vision and now the Vita is going to flop hard. But really the only ones who are to blame for Sony's blunders are their fanboys, instead of demanding better things from Sony like any good customer should, they just sit back and stuff their Sony branded "personal massagers" up their bums.:|

Quake 2 is ps1's halo 4 player deathmatch on xbox.
Gamepro is just looking for hits. I do agree that the SD micro cards are expensive, but that's the only thing on the Vita that causes the problem. Everything else is just pure gold. For those talking bad about the Vita saying that they don't want a PS3 console like experience on the go need to understand that there are people who would want to play games like that on the go instead of being at home because most ppl like myself are on the go and never have time to play those games at home. PS Vita has the launch lineup that's gonna be fantastic, plus the app PlayStation Suite will include mobile developers to develop games for the Vita which will reach a new impact for not only hardcore gamers, but casuals that usually don't play games at all, epecially in the mobile market.
why? Because having android would mean it's hack friendly, or because people are so familiar with android? Guys, my smartphone is awesome, but smartphone games sukk balls, seriously. If the Vita had Android on it this would be a whole different story.
Wasdie
That's very well put, and if I remember correctly, the PSP had the same exact problem...... Oh wait, if I remember correctly it was aimed at the teenage audience, especially with the Hannah Montana PSP. :PVita is in trouble, no doubt. Looks great from a distance, but the more and more I look at it I'm unsure who the target audience is. Too expensive for children, adults use smartphones, and I've read many "gamers" on this site say they don't care for portable gaming at all. It seems it will fill a niche audience. Whether or not it will survive I do not know.
