Is this a magazine that just makes stuff up to fill pages or what?

Ill eat my own face if COD4 'breaks all the rules'. Give me a break.

Metroid Prime 3 does not break any rules. Im sure it will be a good game, and Im looking forward to it, but its just a sequal with Wii controls. Mario Galaxy breaks some rules. Thats a different game to stuff I've seen before.

I'm not sure I'd agree with some descriptions Gamepro made there... but an acceptable list nonetheless.

I don't think they understand what the word "innovation" truly means. It is to create or do something which is unique or new.

A lot of what they have listed are either small gimmick add-on's to games, or are just representative of doing some good but not being innovative.Having a good story telling element in COD4 does not make it innovative. I can think of plenty of other FPS that have done that. Being merely good at something is not innovation in itself.

I'd take ET: Quake Wars out. Honestly, the game is so similar to Battlefiend and Wolfestein: Enemy Territory. CoD 4 - multiplayer meets RPG? I don't understand, if you mean gaining exp and having the ability to upgrade your weapons then it's done before.

about COD4 -- they say " one of the most promising innovations in COD4 is its RPG-inspired online mode, which allows you to build a custom solider from scratch. RPG stats, like strength and dexterity , are key to expanding your soldiers abilities"

I think it's the community aspect, and Halo 3 lets you create your own characters and stuff. I don't know a whole lot about Halo 3 since I haven't looked into it much though.

Forge thing, lets you customize things inside the map.

how is that revolutionary? PC games have been doing that for the past 10 years. And LBP is much deeper than Halo 3 Forge.

Plus, gamepro said most ground breaking games. Not just on consoles. FPSs on PC have done everything Halo has done and more in the past 10 years. And consoles are just NOW getting editing tools? gg.

apparently all you have to do now-a-days to be recognized as "innovative", is to throw in a video editor mode. halo is a tried and true formula, literally adding nothing fresh to the FPS genre. that's not to say that it won't stop me from playing the hell out of it...but there are far more deserving titles out there.

I'd definitely take out at least half the games trhere and throw in Mass Effect for its digital actors, Fable for its one button fighting, No More Heroes for being the most socially-awkward game to play in front of others and BFME2/C&C3 for getting RTS's to work on consoles.

Wait a minute, wasn't gamepro the one that just rated Lair poorly because they had to use motion controls?

So.....if that's the case Metroid Prime 3 is doomed right?

i guess it's motion controls arn't innovative if they arn't done well by gamepro standards. These people are worse than G4.

Gamepro is the gaming equivalent of the National enquirer, nothing it writes is worth the ink and paper it took to make it.

Halo 3? :lol:marioraider

I laught at you sir, Halo although just a FPS to some it has managed to build a community system that goes unrivalled by any console games. That is one of the reasons people still play so much Halo to this day, Halo 3 is adding both forge and media sharing which so far is unprecedented tools to the consumer

Nah, Godfather didn't do exactly that. It allowed you to shoot a specific part of the thing you were locked on to, but not outside of that lock-on.

COD4? Halo 3? Quake Wars?

How are those innovative. If you want truly innovative games, look at Crush, and Super Paper Mario. Many games on that list, like LBP, and Assasins Creed, I'll grant, but others are quite generic.

Metroid does. If it had been another, standard FPS, Metroid would've been the talk of the town because of it's awesome control scheme.

But since it's a single-player adventure game, it'll only make a fizzle.

Read up on Crysis before you post. It "innovates" (although everything it does has been done before, and some things it does are incredibly rare in games) in many ways by combining previous innovations into one package.

I don't really agree with this list either, as many of those games (Halo 3, Metroid Prime 3 (just added Wiimote controls), Stranglehold, Quake Wars) hardly innovate at all.
