gamerankings HALO 3 beats Metal Gear 4... PERIOD!

So, since my poll that I created about a week ago, concerning gamerankings revelancy to this site gamespot.com, the majority of you have voted that it should be revelant (53% to 47%).

I now declare HALO 3 a better game based on all reviews that gamerankings gave both games, by which may I add gamespot also contributes.

HALO 3 = 93.4%

Metal Gear 4= 92.5%

Rookie reviewer Kevin VanOrd's review of Metal Gear 4 is totally out of line with critics review (92%) and us the the gamers review 95%.

It's a good thing they are both totally different genres...

But if you want to argue your logic then there are many games better than Halo 3, acording to Gamerankings Halo 2 is better than 3...downgrade confirmed?

Halo 3 = 94%
MGSIV = Halo :o

Better yet, on Gamespot
MGSIV = 10
Halo = 9.5
MGSIV > Halo 3

So seriously, who really cares? :P

I think, and probably every reviewer would agree to some extent, games are reviewed to the console standards and it's current generation line up. Zelda 64 was the highest rated game ever (I do believe), but clearlly their have been better games created already.

I think and we everyone can probably agree on, is that the Xbox 360 and the ps3 are pretty much givin the same standards.

MGS4 is 94 on Metacritic. Both sites are fail. A) Metacritic includes Variety, and B) They allow rankings by obscure sites and people no ones ever heard of. Gamespot scores are all that matter in Gamespot forums. THREAD FAILS. GET OUT.pseudocaesar

Does it make a difference that a bunch of outlets reviewed MGS4 and MGO seperately because they didn't get the memo that MGO was icluded with MGS4 ? MGO reviewed great as a stand alone product , and I think that would have added to the overall scores. They really should be a little closer than what they are.

You cannot fairly compare the scores of Wii games and 360/Ps3 games because of the difference in standards.

Sorry, but MGS4 is a game that isn't even in the same category as Halo. Halo is such crap compared to MGS4 that I can't even see how you can say otherwise. Also, Halo has a higher score because more people are accessible to it, not because it is better. Ask anyone who has played all of the MGS games which one is better.

Metal Gear Solid 4 is more for the hardcore and specific fans, unlike Halo where its an everybody's pick up and play MORE casual game.

Tis true, MGS accomplishes a lot more, Halo is fun and accessible. Diferent leagues imo.

Because the MAJORITY of the gamers out there are casuals that are into simple games and shooters in general. MGS4 is a more for the hardcore...to even understand it you'd have to play the first one, knowing the cutscene lengths and overall complicated story telling....it isn't the most attractive title, expeically compared to a game like Halo. 

Halo has a more mass appeal and anyone can pick it up and enjoy it at some point, MGS4....just isn't that game.

Notice that it says www.gamespot.com and not www.gamerankings.com.

You can have GR relevant to discussion, but GameSpot's reviews are the scores that go here, and MGS4 got a 10, like it or not, and Halo 3 did not, again, like it or not.

Speaking of standards. Stealth Action/adventure and FPS are different. Not to mention, MGS as a series holds a definite sense of harsher criticism than most games out there.

If you were to ask me, I'd say MGS4 > SMG >> Halo 3. All are awesome games, but when you get into the subjective realms of AAA content there honestly is no 'true' winner. Until the industry votes in their game awards.

SMG wasn't reviewed on its standards soley on the Wii, but the platformer genre in general. It is a masterpiece of creative level design, varied/engaging gameplay, and the tightest platforming controls around.

There are more reviews averaged on gamerankings for Halo 3, because more people have played Halo 3.

MGS4 is on a much smaller userbase, leading to a much more smaller amount of reviews, leading to a lower score because there's less to average together.

That 10 is still bothering people?  :lol:

I loved MGS4 and it's probably the only game I would ever score a 10....the reviewers opinion had no influence on my opinion. GTA4 scored a 10 and I thought it was easily the lease fun game in the series.
