UC2 is a corridor crawl. It's no feat making tight and compact levels look great.
TekkenMaster606
No, its not. It's levels are pretty wide and expansive from what I played.

That people will ignore the generic average gameplay as long as it's masked over with amazing graphics. One(cows) might say that Halo Reach looks like last gen compared to Uncharted 2, but I say that Uncharted 2 plays like last gen compared to Reach.

"Uncharted 2 plays like last gen compared to Reach"
lol. Not at all.
A much better argument than yours. What does that even mean anyway? Like I said, the visuals masked the generic gameplay. Why do you think everyone got bored of its multiplayer already? Also, no Uncharted did NOT get goty everywhere, stop talking out of your ass.[QUOTE="peanutbudduh"][QUOTE="Deathtransit"]Yup, U2 got 9.5 here and GOTY everywhere else solely because of it's amazing graphics. Good argument!iKINGBOBi
Who are you to talk to him like that? Aren't we supposed to be respectful on this board? Someone should report you:? Anyway UC2 has over 80000 players online at a given time, I hardly call that "people getting bored of the game"
Where's your proof? Eh, that's not even impressive. Give it a few months and those numbers will drop dramatically.[QUOTE="sSubZerOo"]

Finally one thing cows and hermits can agree on...Crysis and Uncharted 2 does NOT have generic gameplay
/THREAD
Blazerdt47
From what I have played of Uncharted 2.. It had some good set pieces, but overall gameplay was pretty derivitative of the Tomb Raider franchise.
Are you a hermit?
If so I can say the same thing about Crysis, the graphics are a marvel to look at but it's just another FPS.
No, you can't, because it's not "just another FPS" evident by it's open level structure, destructible environments, and integration of the nanosuit to create extremely dynamic "I came, I saw, I conquered" gameplay style.[QUOTE="zarshack"]

alright, sorry but i like crysis and have it, and gameplaywise, yes its generic, but i only bought it for the graphics anyway so w/e XDA much better argument than yours. im just going to buy you and the OP a dictionary so you can look up the meaning of words
Crysis has generic story and characters, not gameplay. I don't remember any other FPS where I can cut down a tree into pieces with my gun, grab one of those pieces and throw it at the enemy's head using some kind of super force, killing him after the process. Can you refresh my memory?

dude your preety much just running around on an island shooting people, the weapons are your old stand bys, atleast games like resistance and halo try different things, rip saw guns, laser canons, wraths, and all that jazz, if crysis wasnt preety it be a very generic game, but because its graphics engine is so high, with physics and detail, people love itCrysis has generic story and characters, not gameplay. :lol:But that was just one little example, there're many things you can do in Crysis, it's not just shoot, recover, advance, repeat like most FPS nowadays. Most people who bashes Crysis' gameplay haven't played the game.
Tell that to the critics. That people will ignore the generic average gameplay as long as it's masked over with amazing graphics. One(cows) might say that Halo Reach looks like last gen compared to Uncharted 2, but I say that Uncharted 2 plays like last gen compared to Reach.

no people love it because of the gameplay.
the fact that you can go anywhere and do anything*
how many games allow you to play the game the way you want to?
most games you can play stealth you can play guns blazing but usually it favors one way over the other. crysis allows you to play how you want whenever you want and the game adjusts.
go stealth and the AI will hunt you down.
go in guns blazing using shields and streangth
go in with a mix
its up to you. if you found it generic and boring try playing it a different way theres no right or wrong way to play it.
which is exactly what makes it not generic.

Crysis and Uncharted 2 have brilliant gameplay. Don't try to look like the anti-generic gamer who doesnt get impressed by graphics. Would Crysis and Uncharted 2 be nothing without their graphics? Yes they would , but it the good way. These 2 games were engineered around the technology to change the gameplay (Crysis) or the technolgy helped the artists vision to be better realised (Uncharted 2).
They aren't wide or expansive at all, the vast majority of the game is restrictive (this is actually necessary for most of the part), they are very well designed. No, its not. It's levels are pretty wide and expansive from what I played.

Halo is dated. Doens't use iron sites, no destructable environments (that changes gameplay) run and gun gameplay, no cover system (not necessary but i like them in shooters) blues35301This means it is dated?
This perception of dated is ridiculous, Halo's design is individual, you can argue it is dated compared to its 2001 predecessor, not to the barrage of military arcade shooters.
dude your preety much just running around on an island shooting people, the weapons are your old stand bys, atleast games like resistance and halo try different things, rip saw guns, laser canons, wraths, and all that jazz, if crysis wasnt preety it be a very generic game, but because its graphics engine is so high, with physics and detail, people love itjeezersThe irony of your post is unbelievable.
Halo is probably the most archaic fps with the most dated gameplay this gen. It plays EXACTLY like a ps2/xbox gen fps ala halo and halo 2. Crysis and U2 on the other hand feature many things not offered last generation.
blues35301
*looks at the plethora of features Halo has* of which have been built up plenty since Halo 2.
oh hey, Killzone, nice split-screen co-op, amirite?
Uncharted 2 and Crysis both look and play great. You don't have to bash the game just because it's not on the system you prefer.
Uncharted 2 for me hit the sweet spot for graphics and gameplay, However Crysis also hit the sweet spot for me with graphics and gameplay. what dose this mean TC, Im I doing it wrong?
 It dosen't matter either way because both of them get blown away by the gameplay of Demon's Souls so I could care less for which one of those games is fighting for # 2, 3, 4 ect.
People giving into hype /answer :).UC2 got a 9.5 here and is one of the highest rated games of all time. I hardly call that generic gameplay:roll:

[QUOTE="lundy86_4"][QUOTE="peanutbudduh"] I already explained to you what it's generic. If everything about it is generic then the gameplay will also be generic. The gameplay does not offer anything special. It's just another shooter. It gives me a been there done that feeling.peanutbudduh
No, you just named a few general things, nd never truly explained anything. I wish I could get away with your "explaining" in some of my uni papers as i'd be pulling A's from all over.
I explained what Crysis offered over a lot of other FPS games. You haven't explained diddly squat, and it's looking like ou haven't even played the game up until now.
I don't really get what you want from me. I explained to you why it's generic. I listed the things that make the game feel generic, there is no substance, no twist in the gameplay at all. It's just a safe little shooter. All you did was list things like "storyline", "characters" etc, not what makes the game generic. How do those things make the game generic? What aspects of the game, such as what parts of the gameplay are generic?
UC2 got a 9.5 here and is one of the highest rated games of all time. I hardly call that generic gameplay:roll:
People giving into hype /answer :). Like with Halo you mean?Like with alot of games I mean......Crysis gameplay generic? If you mean in the sense that you have a gun, and shoot people, then yes. Wait, isn't that what you do in Halo Reach? :P Crysis, for me, was one of those rare games that actually made me realise I've entered the next gen. I never knew you could shoot down a tree, pick it up and use it as mobile camoflage in Reach :o
