im sick of people saying gears of war isnt exclusive cause its coming to PC

it was on 360 in 2006, wont be on PC until 2008

gears = xbox360 exclusive

its stupid when a game gets a port like 2 years later like halo 2 and peeps try to say its not exclusives quit

just fanboys trying to hate on the xbox360

I think the whole PC issue is stupid and moot. It's like saying a game isn't exclusive because it will be on the DS. They are two totally different products. People aren't going to stores and being torn between buying a 360 or PC. It doesn't happen any more than people are going to be torn between a console and a DS if they share a game or two.

However, I disagree that a game being 6 months exclusive is considered 'exclusive'. I don't think it is. Why? Because people generally buy a console based on exclusive titles. People who want Halo are going to buy a 360. People who want Metal Gear are goign to buy a PS3. People who want Metroid will buy the Wii. Nobody bases their console buying decision based on ports and multi-plats.

If somebody goes to the store wanting a PS3, for example, but they really really want Bioshock it is a tough choice to make. However, if they were to find out that bioshock was coming to PS3 in 6 months, they aren't going to think twice about following their original plan. Why should they? So in the mind of the consumer, a 6 month exclusive might as well be multiplat from day one; the consumer thinks of it no differently.

I'm afraid you have no idea what you are talking about.

1) People will wait for games ALL THE TIME for any number of reasons. Not everybody rushes out and buys crap on day 1. ONly impatient fanboys and people who realy realy want the game will do so. I've bought games on day 1 that I really wanted but there are also games that I've wanted for a while and still haven't bought simply because I've ended up buying something else instead, or I don't have the money, or I just keep putting it off and forget about it.

2) GTA games sold better on the PS2becausethe games were hugely popular and the PS2 had a massive user base. Exclusivity had nothing to do with it...it was just a coincidence. That's like saying Halo was popular because it was exclusive to Xbox. No, it was popular and sold well because people loved it and exclusivity wasa seperate issue.

The Xbox didn't get a single GTA game until like a year after Vice City came out. By that time the series was already extremely popular and the PS2 had a huge user base. Of course it sold better on PS2 later on. Based purely on statistics, more people owning a PS2 means more PS2 fans were likely to enjoy and buy the game. What? Did you expect them to rush out and buy an Xbox for GTA when they already had a console that could play it?

I mean hey man I love gears too, and I wish that it was a 360 exclusive too. Unfortunately it is not. It is on the PC as well which makes its non-exclusive. If you can get the same game on another system regardless if it is PC or not it is not exclusives.

Woah casey I thought we can't use that term? I mean I said there should be something said about console exclusivity when we had a discussion about gears going to PC. You said that there is no such thing, and that if it is on the PC as well it is no longer exclusive. Though I said in return that a PC is not a console(just like an arcade based system is not as well) and you stated that you can't avoid the PC being a gaming system. Which I didn't but I stated that Gears should be considered a console exclusive as well because you can only get it on the 360 as far as consoles go. Please clearify.
