What hyped games do you find difficult to be hyped about? Feel free to provide links and arguments counter to peoples negativity.
I'm going to start with Blue Dragon. It just looks like a lot of other JRPG's.

I find it hard to be hyped for GTAIV and Lair.
Everybody who has touched Lair hasn't iked it.
GTAIV has high potential, but I'm hoping for some significant differences between the previous three games and this one. I love the other GTA games, but I'm hoping to see something new.
Super Smash Brothers Brawl - I think this might be a good game, but I find it a bit hard to be hyped for ever since Super Smash Bros Melee became like Street Fighter. I like Street Fighter, but I guess I play it a bit more on the casual side, ignoring all the uber tricks that many people like to use in the game to play competitively. Granted, I don't think there is anything wrong with playing games in a competitive sense, but for Melee that whole competitive thing ruined it for me. I've always enjoyed Melee and its predecessor as a set of mindless beat'em up games, not a hardcore competitive series.
Grand Theft Auto IV - To be fair, I was never a big fan of the series. They didn't scream "system seller to me". I did like San Andreas though, partially because it represented parts of California that i have lived in. It's not a bad series, but the wave of horrible games that came afterwards left me with a bad taste in my tongue. I see why people like them, but I guess the whole essence of the series doesn't do it for me.
Assassin's Creed - Actually, this game looks great. But I really don't like the name of the game. It sounds like a bad Jerry Bruckheimer/ Michael Bay movie. I am going to ignore the name of the game, as the gameplay looks great. but I woud really wish they changed the name.
SSBB, never been into the games.
Crysis, great graphics but there's something about it that still doesn't get me in.
Blue Dragon as well, it looks like more DQ to m, which I don't like.
ME, I just don't think it's all that great, maybe because I'm not into scifi rpgs for some reason.
Halo 3, Uncharted etc...the list could go on... Not saying I wouldn't enjoy these games but certainly not that hyped by them.
Too Human - 'Nuff Said.
Metroid Prime - Probably because I've never played one before.
Fable 2 - Because I played the original.
Any sports game.
Any wipeout clone.
Two Worlds.
Blue Dragon+LO. Demo killed all the anticipation I had for the first, which took hope away from the second. The lulzy trailer didn't help much either
Folk Souls - At first I thought it looked fun, but it looks average now. Nice colours though.
Timeshift - Demo was terrible, game looks different but the shooting still looks clunky.
Mario ______.
The next batch of Final Fantasy games. In my (humble) opinion, the franchise needs a big revitalisation, as it seems to be becoming quite stale & turning into a quagmire of spinoffs. But then again, people are more then likely to disagree with me, especially considering I have never really liked Final Fantasy. Aqua-Vitae
just a heads up if you're interested, the two new XIII games; XIII and versusXIII are a very big departure from what you might've expected 5 or so years ago. XIIIversus will be like kingdom hearts on steroidsand XIII will have elements of WRPG's like 12 did (script-esque mechanics) but extremenly fast and with a really dynamic camera system.
if any franchise is being revitalised it's FF. the new games will have the sameiconic visual markers, like chocobos, summons, moogles etc...but apparently the devs wanna make it more mature and have more action-rpg elements.
Killzone 2, Halo 3, Fable 2, Blue Dragon, Lair, Heavenly Sword, Warhawk, No more Heroes
EDIT: AH! How did I forget about GTA4!
Killzone 2 - The gameplay vids were very boring and mediocre even for a shooter
Halo 3 - Never been a fan and from the looks of things probably wont ever be
GTA4 - I dont know why but I just dont really think much of it anymore
MGS4 - this is a no brainer the gameplay looked rediculously stupid, if your gonna do a stealth action game at least make it realistic.
Metroid prime 3 - I really loved the first FPS incarnation of metroid but the secound one dissapointed me and I looks as though the third game is heading its way. (MP2 was too action oriented)
Mass Effect - I have no idea why people hype it so much it looks very boring IMO.
*dont bash me they are my opinions!
Killzone 2, Halo 3, Fable 2, Blue Dragon, Lair, Heavenly Sword, Warhawk, No more HeroesMetroid_Timeooh i forgot about heavenly sword. that game is all flashy cutscenes and facial animations. the gameplay looks poor at best. developer is unproven.
i agree with you on mass effect. that game looks like it would put me to sleep.Killzone 2 - The gameplay vids were very boring and mediocre even for a shooter

Grand Theft Auto IV: Shouldn't this one actually be GTA VI?!?! Oh well. What made III and Vice City so good was their sense of humour. They were clearly satirizing mobster flicks, and in VC's case, the 80's, and it worked perfectly, which is why (IMO) none of the other games that have tried to cash in on the formula have come close to succeeding. There were a bunch of times during Vice City where'd I'd have to pause the game because I was laughing so hard. San Andreas, however, was missing that sense of humour, and I felt the game was taking itself way too seriously in comparison to VC, and while SA had more of EVERYTHING, it was essentially more of the same, without a sense of humour or story (a la Final Fantasy) to get me into it. And the novelty of the shock value from III and VC is long since gone. So the GTA series has pretty much lost me at this point.
Final Fantasy XIII: FF XII WAS NOT a Final Fantasy game, and the more I hear about XIII it sounds like it essentially won't be, either. This series needs a SERIOUS return to its roots, and when I say that, I mean random encounters, turn based battles, clear-cut classes, etc. What kept the FF series fresh with all these traditional-style elements was the story, and this older-style gameplay served to help the story along as opposed to XII's gameplay, which IMO actually hindered it.
Halo III: Meh. Seen it. Played 1 and 2 for a bit, got angry at the controls, went back to the FPS' on the PC. It's been done before, and better.
Any Ubisoft sequel at this point (even though I'm intrigued by the next Splinter Cell, since it looks like they're trying something different.)
The Need for Speed franchise: Hot Pursuit 2 has been, BY FAR, the best entry in this series, with cool locales, cool Euro cars, and downright INTENSE cop chases. And then, EA decided to cash in on the popularity of the Fast & the Furious, giving self-respecting people ANOTHER reason to hate that movie. So then the games started to get increasingly more absurd with each entry, with less cars, tracks that look way too similar to one another, useless driving which serves to only take way too much time to get to the next race, forced, way-overused "street-slang" and terrible FMV acting.
And pretty much any WW2-based FPS. And Call of Duty 4.
I think that about covers it.
GTAIV. It just doesn't feel like anything that different from the previous games.foxhound_fox
i'm gonna go with GT5, i'd say 3 was the best, but where has it gone since, kinda downhill imo.
Lair, Warhawk, Mass Effect and Crysis for me.
Just not the kind of games I think I would like, so I can't really get hyped for them. Who knows though, may like them on release.

Me also.
As much as I loved the Black Isle games, me too. Bethesda do not make true roleplaying games.
oh yeah COD4 too. shooting people in a different place=GENIUS.......yeah, not buying it. (maybe ill buy call of duty 6 in 2009.......on second thought i'll wait till 2010 and buy COD7)---OkeyDokey---
So.. what you are saying is: There is no reason too get any other fps then Wolfenstein 3D?

im saying there is no reason for yet another call of duty game. theres been two on the 360 already. the last one didnt leave me starving for more either, maybe if they didnt make a new one every year the series wouldn't have become stale so quickly.and I'm seriously annoyed that a bought a 360 now ... whats left? Mass Effect? yea excellent ... but 1 game ...Meu2k7I'm kind of in the same situation. I've had a 360 for over a year, and came to the realisation a few weeks ago that every 360 I enjoyed/wanted to get is also on PC with the exception of Mass Effect. Hell, my 3 favourite 360 games are Viva Pinata, CoD2 and Gears. PC, PC and PC. My 5 most anticipated 360 games: BioShock, Mass Effect, Half Life 2, Alan Wake, Assassin's Creed. PC, 360, PC, PC, PC. I'd sell it if I could get a good price for it.
[QUOTE="gingerdivid"]Fallout 3---OkeyDokey---we know nothing about it.....probably crap thoughWe know that bethesda will take out all the silly humour, which was a big part of Fallout 1-2.

Yea, the only saving grace for Halo 3 is playing it with alot of the guys in college ... when thats died down, and Ive played Mass Effect, I'l probably end up selling it... most pointless console I have ever owned .... being pretty blunt I know ... but both the PS3/Wii could offer me more.

Wii Nintendo ****cs , PArty games (for those less interested in gaming)
PS3 Next year will have alot more to offer in terms of quality exclusives than the 360 would to a PC owner ... theres no denying this ... also , to MY standards XBOX LIVE is rubbish, granted PSn/Wii Connect would also be ... at least they will have more interesting features, not just peer 2 peer hosting, witha cruddy gamercard that means nothing to me, or downloads that I can already do on the PC ....
The 360 isnt as great as you think, but this is severly offtopic ... so lets leave it there aye?
1- R&C: I don't like small characters, in other words "Kiddy".
2- UT3: May be cuz I didn't play it ever.
3- Mass Effect: Booooring.
4- Halo 3: Tired *** rehash game.
5- Too human: WTF is this?!!!
6- Fable 2: WTF?!!!
7-Paper, galaxy, bros, brawl, racing,I don't know what to call it anymore: Tired *** rehash minigames.
8- COD 4: no originality.
9- Silent Hill 5: Tired *** game.
