Games that you liked more than you thought you would in '09?

Red Faction Guerrilla. This game exceeded my expectations.

Left 4 Dead 2. I really didn't like the first one, but I found myself enjoying the sequel a lot.

I would have to go with cryostasis. The game I expected to like but ended up thinking was average was batman AA.

I think my most suprising game I enjoyed was Red Faction Guerilla and the one I liked the least was Borderlands... I guess I hyped it to much :(

seems like he inherintly hates ps3 excusives, but then can't deny their awesomeness when he gives them more playtime, or once they get GOTY

Heh, I saw from somebody's quote sig that BSOwnz predicted Demon's Souls to "get 5.5-ish... max..."

Red Faction: Guerrilla came out of nowhere for me... great game. I had no regrets buying it on two platforms (PC and PS3).

I thought it looked meh from all the videos and to me it seemed overhyped but I got it for Christmas and exploded in the pants.

-Uncharted 2 - was expecting a brilliant game... got something out of this world!

-Red Faction Guerilla - came out of the blue for me. One of the games I was addicted to most this year.

Uncharted 2 - I knew I would like it a lot...blew my mind and is my 5th/4th fav game of all time. inFamous - Borrowed it from friend and played the first 3 hours of it. I can't wait to buy it now. So much fun... Little Kings Story - Bought it on a whim. The first two hours literally flew by. Such a great game. NSBMW - Just too much fun. World 9+2P co-op=WIN.

Borderlands and Killzone 2. Borderlands I thought was going to be average and I didn't expect much from it. The game was one of the best i played this year. it was so much fun, especially with friends.I thought the cell shading was going to annoy me, but I didn't even notice it I was having so much fun. Killzone 2 I was very skeptical about because of the craptistic first game. I have to say, it is one of the best FPS I have ever played. I played through the campaign twice. The graphics delivered, and so did the gameplay. The sound design with a good surround sound is ridiculous.

Expected a great game, but got one of the most amazing and memorable games ever.

My GOTY and apparently gamespot's also.

Assassins Creed 2 definetly, I mean the original was OKAY, but i honestly didnt think this one would improve and add so much stuff to it as it did.

ALso Borderlands, other then the artstyle there was nothign about it that looked partcularly fun to me, Im glad that was proved wrong though or Id be missing out on my second favorite game this year :D

I couldn't agree more with you on that one, To think I said at one point "im gonna pass on this one and just get Cross X Edge instead" I can laugh at myself now because the day I bought this game I had already realized that cross edge failed and decided to pick up RE5 but when I was about to pick it up and pay for it at the store my girlfriend told why dont you buy that cool superhero game you had talked to me about before, Resident Evil is most likely going to be short and boring and I listened to her and picked up InFamous. Man this game exceed my expectations in just about any possible way :lol: Anything made by sucker punch will easily get me interested from now on :P
