What games have you played that have had a terrific storyline until the ending?
The biggest one I can think of is Bioshock, both of the endings were very poor.

Yeah KOTOR 2's ending was pretty bad. Such a shame that game's story wasn't as good as the first, because everything else about it was much better.starwarsgeek112

I personally liked KotOR II's story more than the original's, mainly because it felt more dark and deeper. I like the Star Wars games that depict life in the "other" parts of the universe, not just the overly-dramatized galactic civil war or the clone wars. I like learning about the darker, more mysterious parts of the Star Wars universe like Nar Shaddar, Telos, Korriban or Malachor V; always playing on the typical planets like Coruscaunt, Tatooine, Yavin, etc. just gets old and uninteresting after a while.

Also, KotOR II seemed more intelligent to me. Even when I did the "right" thing, I always began to question mysef about whether what I was doing was for the greater good of my original cause. Sure, I could give a couple of credits over to some beggar, but that might hinder me from buying equipment for my journey ahead, jeopardizing my entire journey...

Also, the relationships between the characters just felt more... satisfying and legitimate. Party members from the other first KotOR felt more tacked on and a waste of space; they were lifeless NPC's that shared one stereotype after another, making their engagement and relevance in the story worthless. In KotOR II, however, the party members felt so much more "human" because your conversations with them actually mattered, with each branch of dialogue swaying them ever-so-slowly into your own ambitions--or distraught them entirely. My trust and care for them only made the ending of the game worse than it already was.

Above all, I think KotOR II was a much better game than the first KotOR in every way possible (except for the endings of course...).

I agree. The Bioshock endings were pretty lame.

F3 never had a great story anyway, so it gets disqualified, see the topic title? I would say either Bioshock or Kotor 2. Kotor 2 was ridiculous though. It wasn't even a cliff hanger, it was like it had already managed to climb up, brushed its self off, then walked away casually, forgetting it had to actually finish the plot at some point.

This gen Fallout 3 and Bioshock are probably the worst. Nothing leaves a terrible aftertaste, more than a story that has been so built up, and it leads to a cliched crap finale, of underwhelming proportions. Developers need to take a leaf out of Valve's book - in this case Portal; for a memorable, rewarding ending, that also leaves possibilities for a sequal, or prequal.

Halo 3 was pretty lame. "Everything's gunna be alright" he says next thing you know there's soldiers (I so wish one of them was the Joker) firing their guns into the air. Kill off Master Chief why don't you. Enchanted Arms wasn't good in the first place but the ending wan't that great at all. That drag queen comes back. Worst movie ending ever is Babylon A.D. A black and a white child to a virgin mother who dies suddenly without warning. Come on!

Fallout 3.

Ok maybe not the worlds best story but it was interesting and it just fell into a horrible mess right at the end.
