Tony Hawk's Pro Skater anyone? I mean... I grew tiresome of all the grinding.
@sHaDyCuBe321: Mario isn't a grind. By the time you get to buy moons, you'll also have unlocked a shitload of new moons in all worlds to find. So if you go do that, you'll get your needed coins naturally. Grinding would be unnecessary and dumb.
If all you are spending your coins on are moons then maybe, but if you also want to get all costumes then grinding will become necessary, all because they had to make that one suit cost 9999 coins. Really wish they didn't price that one so high.
You might be right that if you want all costumes as well you might have to grind. Not sure, though. I have most of them already (including the 9999 one), and I'm not done yet with the moons (got around 820) and got some moons left to buy. I don't think I need to grind a lot, at least. I've got around 6000 coins already and I haven't even thought about collecting extra coins.
If I had to grind, I'd just play that last level a few more times. You get lots of coins from that.
@Litchie: by the end of the game you need 119 more moons. 119 x 100 = 11,900, which wouldn’t be too bad.
But when you add the cost of that plus all the coins needed for the outfits, which winds up being 26,739, you need to collect a grand total of 38,639 coins.
Now I don’t know about you but I didn’t naturally come across 39,000 coins through my 80 hours.
@Bread_or_Decide: bro! My condolences, after my dad passed it took me a bit, but Halo Reach came out and my siblings and I just sunk like 1000 hours each into it to keep our minds off of things.
In regards to the moons. There are a certain number of moons it’s less than 900 but you can eventually purchase moons to max out at 999. The buying mechanic is in place because there is some post game content that is locked behind a moon count (250 and 500) and I’m assuming Nintendo didn’t want to limit how you can get to that content.
Thanks, man. It's been rough. I appreciate you taking the time for the kind words. I played nothing but Doom 2016 on my Switch while my mom was in the hospital. It was the perfect outlet for my anger and frustration. Now I'm sort of left with just sadness and Skyrim and Animal Crossing are helping me get my mind off those sad thoughts.
Very interesting, about Mario odyssey's moons. In some ways, I'm dying to find out what it's all about. But Mario is such a happy place for me and that doesn't feel right at this moment and time. But neat....I'm very very curious.
Yeah man for sure. We come here to argue and debate about games, but on the other side of every username theres a person. And Mario will always be there waiting when that light comes shining back into your life.
I need to get my Skyrim on though. Kind of feel like now that Nintendo's receiving 3rd party support I should send that support back.
@wiiboxstation: some of the are a pain in the ass to find. I was missing three in the second to last kingdom (not including bonus kingdoms) and finally gave up and used a guide. I felt like a complete idiot when I realized where they were hidden.
I'm not sure some posters here have experienced actual grinding. The Witcher? AC? Maybe a bit of grinding in those, but it's light grinding at most.
GTA Online has become a grindfest unless you want to purchase shark cards.
Anyone who's played Elite Dangerous knows what serious grinding really is.
The Witcher 3 comes to mind. Steam says I spent 173 hours on the thing. All of it felt like mostly grinding.
Seriously?
Yup. It's not the game's fault. It's hard for me to get immersed with 3rd-person games. If it was 1st-person and had guns a la Fallout 4, I'd be immersed enough to finish the game.....and I did finish Fallout 4 (with 340+ hours) despite being an "inferior" game to The Witcher 3.
First person mod.
Black desert online, there is no level cap. people grind already for a year + to get 1 level up from 62 to 63 yet nobody still did. You need about 15.000 hours of pure grinding without dying.
Lineage 2, level cap. but because dead = loss of exp and you die a ton you basically are never done leveling.
First person mod.
That's nice. I might try it.
Now, we just need a mod that turn swords and magic into guns. ;) It'll look out of place. But, it'll be interesting.
