There's jerks in all online games. Shooters are most known for having terrible communities, but there's someone looking for trouble no matter where you go. Even Minecraft is full of people like that (griefers deserve capital punishment. :x)
PC racing sims by far...

Ummm..... show me the PC racing equivalent of this....
then we'll talk
DoTA. So much rage.red12355
I'm going with this or LoL. From the little-moderate amount I've spent in both, you come across some fairly high-skilled players who always feel the need to be asses about it. The same goes for Starcraft 2. There are just some poor sports out there, winners and losers.
As for awful communities in terms of attitude, I'm not a fan of Left 4 Dead 2's. Playing versus, no matter what you do, your team is made up of highly critical sore losers, and your opponents are always egotistical jerk elitists. I was on a team with two of my friends, the one random that joined us spent the entire level yelling at us and complaining.
.oh boy I'm telling you SC2 has one of IMO and experiences one of the WORST online communities....ever. I think its probably because people get WAY to serious the farther you are in the leagues, its like SC2 has become life to them...dracolich55
 Some dude told my 3v3 team we needed to get laid more after we beat them, and we were only playing to place in bronze-- we were literally fighting for last place (we'd lost like 3/5 placement matches beforehand). It was a good victory that day.

Also when a team realises theres no way of winning on Versus they RQ. They should really add an incentive to keep playing.
DotA type games. Every community usually has the vocal minority that makes it look bad. Well these games have a vocal majority unless you play with friends.
*Looks at poll options*
Console Shooters: blahblahcrap...BATTLEFIELD...blahblahcrap
*...Battlefield...*
Anyway I chose PC FPSes. Pretty sure SC has a more hardcore community, but the barrier of entry is lower I think.

face reality brah, battlefield is a console shooter nowadays. remember COD originated on the pc as well and its the posterchild for console shooters
CSS you can expect a bunch of idiots on mic like any other FPS, only sometimes more Euro. LoL and HoN have some pretty brutal communities as in take it way to seriously
Interesting question. Most online games have a barrier to entry, as the players already there have a leg up on map and gameplay knowledge.
I think Warhawk has one of the steepest learning curves on consoles. For PC, I haven't played that much but there is a lot to the gameplay in TF2. They have some nice tutorials for a couple of the classes to outline the basics, but is curiously missing tutorials for most of them.
So, to some up, all competitive games share the same story. Newbie doesn't know what to do, but everyone else does. The only real difference comes from how many things you can do in the game, thus making the disparity between new players and veterans bigger.
CoD is a game that, while it's obviously advantageous to know the maps and weapons, even the first game a person plays they will make some kills. I can't say the same for TF2 or Warhawk.
I don't think this really about the community, though, as much as it is about the games' mechanics.
Arcade Fighters. You start winning a match and your opponent will leave, but not before cursing you out.

Big difference. DICE never abandoned PC. It's how a multi-plat shooter should be.
The most we ever get from CoD is...dedicated servers.
RTS games and MOBA games. (Talking abotu REAL moba games, not sissy casual LoL, talking about DOTA, HON.)
Just the amount of skill and concetration and practice it takes to be mediocre (platinum league) at SC2, you would propably be winning tournaments in other games.
StarCraft 2 and is not even a contest. If you don't know what you are doing, you'll be eaten alive in a matter of seconds.
DoTA/LoL/HON are BY FAR the worse. I don't know what it is with those games, but they have tons of ragers. Most of them are like that, not just a small minority.LethalhazardThis guy knows what he's talking about.
Lol community by far the most pathetic u feel like smashing there heads on the wall . and WoW Arena heros talking so mch @$%@^ (Esp Frost mages and dks there awnser is l 2 pvp feel like taking a baseball bat to there head XD ) and how mch PVE takes no skill -_-AllthishateThanks why only 1.3% of players have beaten normal mode Firelands and why those who have beaten heroic Firelands (pre-nerf) are raiding 40 hours a week.
Shooters and Mobas imo. Call of Duty, Halo, Counter-Strike, DoTA, HoN, LoL all have cringe-worthy communities.
People it says COMPETITIVE in the poll. Meaning, higher level of competition, higher level of entry. Not higher number of whiny pre-teens, it would be a close contest between League of Lamers and cawadooty then.
Thanks why only 1.3% of players have beaten normal mode Firelands and why those who have beaten heroic Firelands (pre-nerf) are raiding 40 hours a week. lol what? im currently 6/7 25man hc (6/7 hc pre nerf) and are about to kill rag heroic and we raid 16 hours Max a week . only the top 100 even come close to 40 hours. only paragon have the stamina for that kind of raiding and even pr nerf " most semi orginised guilds are able to at least get 1 hc boss down so 1.3 percent is way to low :S. .[QUOTE="Allthishate"]Lol community by far the most pathetic u feel like smashing there heads on the wall . and WoW Arena heros talking so mch @$%@^ (Esp Frost mages and dks there awnser is l 2 pvp feel like taking a baseball bat to there head XD ) and how mch PVE takes no skill -_-Marka1700
