By far, the worst and I mean WORST in history goes to Fable II. Beyond that, there's Uncharted, Condemned and Gears 2.
[QUOTE="Espada12"]Your so right about ME2, they could of done so much better then that set piece battle where I just took cover the entire time taking pop shots. ME1 a much better more fleshed out boss battle.Batman, Gears 2, Borderlands, NG2, ME1+2 and dragon age.

Yea... and the guy above just reminded me about UC2.. ughh that last boss was just awful
This, and for me FF9 Necron what a cop outBy far, the worst and I mean WORST in history goes to Fable II. Beyond that, there's Uncharted, Condemned and Gears 2.

I'm suppriced that i don't see Final Fantasy XIII here, people complane how last stage of it was deam easy
But for real? Uncharted 1 and 2,with marking on UC1 that was practicly QTE battle :P
I LOVED ME2 but the very final bit was a let down, felt silly, also Bioshock.blue_hazy_basicThe end of ME2 didnt really even feel like they fleshed it all out honestly they spent the entire game putting your team together to do a short 20 minute ending "suicide" mission. Kinda felt rushed unlike in ME1 where you felt like you were in an epic conclusion hence why the boss battle was so awesome.
SPOILERS
MGS4- all the pacing of the game changed in the last 30 min of gameplay (yes, i know that's about five hours of the game... ha ha), and then that stupid mike tyson's punchout thing on top of the boat that in no way used any of the mechanics from the rest of the game.
Killzone 2- the end boss was too different from the battles throughout the rest of the game. maybe if the fight wasn't so long range through most of it and you could see damage or if there was more personality in the characters it would have more impact but it just seemed to be so generic of old arcade games. might as well have been contra or rush'n attack. wait for pattern to emerge... attack... attack... boss regroups... wash rinse repeat.
p.s. i liked killzone 2, i did not like MGS4.

Are you serious? MGS4's final boss fight was freaking epic.
UC2 wasn't great but Batman AA took the cake, epic game, but the final fight with the Joker was a lame letdown.

no it wasn't. two old men punched each other on top of a boat. one had just walked through a microwave oven after being save by an amputee swordfighter and the other was possessed by the ghost of his transplanted hand... and you know why? no reason, war is bad.[QUOTE="fadersdream"]

the other was possessed by the ghost of his transplanted hand you either: A. Did not play the game. B. Did not pay attention. (This was explained in the ending) my vote is Gears 2. Even if you don't count the Brumak, Skorge was god awful. Mash B, dodge tickers and poison, repeat 3 times then on rails sequence. And he dies by falling. Don't sue me for not saying spoilers because if you had any interest in either two games, you should've played them by now.[QUOTE="-Hoax-"]Demon's SoulsfadersdreamI Love Demon's souls... ... and you're absolutely right.
Everyone is always mixed up about the final "boss". Its a representation of what would come to those with a lust for power. King allant is the final boss. Just saying, because that blob is a joke no doubt, but its not supposed to be the boss.

I don't feel like getting into the post hypnotic suggestion crap... would covering that crap make it seem any better? The fact that the game switches all mechanics and turns into a fighting game is my point. it wasn't epic. Are you serious? MGS4's final boss fight was freaking epic.

yes it was!
and yes, i know, it's whatever i say!
I really hate boss battles. Rarely are they done properly. It usually amounts to:
A. Stick a player in a closed area with horrible maneuverability options.
B. Add a monster with 90 bazillion hit points or my favorite, multiple health bars. Even better is the multiple form boss.
C. Make the aforementioned boss much faster than you even though it's the size of a house.
It was fun the first thousand times I did it. I'm thinking maybe there should be better ways to move the story forward in video games.
Alan wake, Arkham Asylum and god of war III, that boss fight just went on and on with Kratos bashing in his head every time. All the other boss fights before it were great

Not trying to insult your intelligence, but if you got better ideas, send some devs a blueprint lol. There are only so many ways to go about with a boss battles, and even the truly unique ones, often borrow from the general ideas you laid out. They are meant to be bosses anyway. Cant have it just end after killing one million troops( haha ), or stepping on half a thousand turtles.
Dont get me wrong though, I fully agree. There just isnt much of a way around this obstacle, so I accept it and take joy in the ones that were at least decently put together.
