Just noticed I own Batman Arkham City on PS3, 360, Steam, Origin and Wii U. I own 4 versions of the game and that's definitely the game I have the most copies of. Also beat it on every platform I have it on.
What about you?

Mass Effect Series God of War series and that's probably it. Valkyria Chronicles too you could say :P
Oh man. My ownership history of Divinity II: The Dragon Knight Saga is a saga all in itself. I first bought it on Impulse back when it was owned by Stardock. When Impulse got sold to GameStop, I simply left and never bothered to log back on. However, I still wanted to play it at some point, so I bought it off Steam during a sale. Finally, during the recently concluded sale on GOG, I wanted to unlock the free copy of Dex, but couldn't find enough games I wanted at the right price to get the necessary XP points. I therefore decided to buy the game alongside two other games to get just enough XP points, then deleted my Steam copy because it had the minimum of Steam integration, and therefore I felt it was better off on GOG.
I have a bunch of other games that I bought twice: I bought Far Cry 3 twice because the first disc I bought was DOA, and bought Mass Effect twice because I was scared I might run out of activations. I also bought a whole bunch of digital "archive copies" off GOG to replace games I already owned as physical copies. Divinity II is the only game I've ever bought three times, and the only game I bought multiple times digitally.
In terms of overall series, I think I own the most Pokemon, Mario, and Castlevania games. I don't recall buying a single game more than twice though.
Oddly its a tie of Wing Commander 4 and Final Fantasy 9. I have the original box pc set of WC4 and the gog version. I have the original FF9 ps1 game i play on an emulator as well as the new pc version which is great!
Resident Evil is the most I've owned.
- original long plastic box (PS1)
- directors cut w/RE2 demo (PS1)
- PSN digital directors cut (PSV,PS3)
- Saturn version (had)
- Remake (Gamecube - had)
- Remake HD (PS4 - digital)
- Remake (PS4 - disc collection)
Love that game. Sadly, RE is dead to me as of RE7. I really don't know what they were thinking making a numbered main game some first person BS. I guess they just really wanted to end the series and be done with it.

Aww man...aww man...man...
Wing Commander 4!
I had Xenoblade Chronicles on Wii, 3ds, and Wii U eshop. Not all at the same time, just got access to it whenever I was able to on the system I had.
Tomb Raider. Own a few on a lot of platforms.
Saints Row 4 on Xbox360, Xbox One, Ps4 and PC. Some other stuff, too. I don't know why. It's a waste of money.
Hmm.
Resident Evil takes the cake, I think I have had 5 copies of that one (GC, Wii, PS3, PC, and I can't remember if it is on the Wii U, but think I have it on my Wii U too) If it only refers to versions I still have, it would be 2.
Follow up must be System Shock 2 with 4 copies, 2 physical (disk cracked in the first one) one from GoG, 1 from Steam.
Fallout 1,2 & Tactics, I own 4 copies of.
Megaman 2 & 3, I own 4 copies of each, NES, PS4, Wii U, and PC (mostly through the legacy collection, I think that counts, yeh?)
Dungeon Keeper 1+2, 3 copies each, Physical, GoG, and Origin.
Resident Evil 1, 0 and revelations I own 3 of each.
Own 3 copies of Golden Axe
River City Ransom I own 2 copies of
MGS 2, 3 on PS2, PSvita and PS3
Halo CE, Anniversary 360 and in MCC
Arkham Asylum and City on Steam, 360, and collection on X1
GoW 1&2 on Vita, PS2 and PS3
Sonic 1 and 2, have them on:
Genesis
Gamecube(Sonic Mega Collection)
PSN (got them via PS+)
PS3 (Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection)
3DS (3D versions)
And I used to have them on Saturn and PS2 as well.
Gears of War
I actually don't own a copy myself, but I've bought and played through Kirby's Adventure on four different Wiis. Each friend who owned a Wii got that game as a gift from me... in which only I ever actually played it.
And there are a handful of old PC games I no longer owned physically that I've bought digitally like Roller Coaster Tycoon, Sim City 4, and Dungeon Siege.
there isn't a game i own more than once
When i purchase a pc version of a console game or a remaster i sell or trade my old copy.
Street fighter Alpha 3
I usually have multiple copies of games for two reasons. Back in the LAN days, I had multiple PCs. That meant multiple copies of games such as:
BF1942 - 2 copies
BF2 - 2 copies
Flight Simulator X - 2 copies
Or, I transitioned from disc to digital
All the Command & Conquer and Red Alert games prior to C&C4 - 2 of each, one disc and one (Origin) digital
Crysis - disc and GoG versions
I intend to replace my disc and Steam/Origin/Uplay versions if GoG versions appear for them.
Right now, I'm contemplating replacing my Steam TW3 with the GoG version.
As far as copies of multiplats among different platforms? Nah. I usually have multiplats on the PC.
Devil May Cry 3 - PS2, PS3 (DMC HD Collection) and Steam
Shadow of the Colossus - 2 PS2 copies (one I won from a magazine competition and the other I bought it just because it is my fav game of all time)
I have Skyrim and Minecraft on PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. I can't think of any other games that I own multiple copies of.
Super Mario Bros. 3 is the game that I have purchased the most copies of:
And I'm sure that I will probably end up buying a version of it for the Nintendo Switch as well.
Final fantasy IV for me
Got it SNES from eBay,
Got it on ps1 as part of some compilation
Got it on ds when the remake was released
Got it on android when released
Got it on steam when released
5 times I own this game, other final fantasy games are not too far behind either, I can't stop giving square money
Soulcalibur 2 for sure. Got a version for each of the gen 6 consoles, as well as the HD online version on PS3. Basically I need the arcade cabinet now.
Probably World of Goo? Well at least I've purchased that game several times somehow.
Bought the original one that I downloaded from their site ages ago. Have the Wii version. Have it owned on Android. Got it from some Steam sale bundle and it came with a Humble Bundle also.
For physical copies, I'm not sure. But it might be Resident Evil 4 on 3 Platforms.
For games I have/had more than two versions of
Zelda: Ocarina of Time - N64 carts, GameCube compilations (Collector's Edition and Master Quest)
LEGO Star Wars II - GameCube, Wii (via Complete Saga), 360 (used to have)
Sonic the Hedgehog 1 - DS (via Classic Collection), 3DS (via SEGA 3D Classics Collection), PS2 (via Mega Collection Plus)
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - PC (formerly), GBC, GameCube
007: Nightfire - PC (inferior version), GameCube, PS2
Guitar Hero III and World Tour - PS2 (formerly), Wii, 360
Rock Band 2 - PS2 (formerly), 360 (damn region locking), Wii
Beyond good and evil - [PC Big-Box original, PC Ubisoft Classics 5 Game compilation box, Xbox 360 HD version] (I also want to get it later for the OG Xbox and Gamecube)
Skate 3 - (PS3 and Xbox 360)
Condemned: Criminal Origins - (PC and Xbox 360)
Condemned 2: Bloodshot - (PS3 and Xbox 360)
Chrono Trigger 3 times.. I think. These were pretty cheap and I like always having a version of this game in close proximity for me to play. Though I only played through the game twice or thrice.
Metroid Prime 2 times because of the trilogy. (But it was essentially a remaster.)
Mass Effect 2 times because of the trilogy. (Cheaper to buy the trilogy than ME2 and ME3 separately.)
