@Jendeh: agreed, slay the spire is excellent and besides hades it’s my favorite rogue like game!
Actraiser... SNES. Developed by Quintet for Publisher Enix.
One half the game is a 2d action platformers with sword and magic spells, the other half being a sim city town building-lite with single player story elements tying into the world building.
You play the role of God or the "Master" liberating your people from monsters who have invaded each of the 5(I think 5... Could be wrong.) unique lands. One a green lush geography, one a snow land... Desert etc.
The master job is to first fight 2d through a level with sick ass music and graphics to kill a boss which then allows you to start building the land. While you build roads, houses and teraform the land monsters are always coming at you from their lairs. Think Action/Sim.
Once the lairs close you jump back into 2d Action and take out another level with even better music and rid the land of evil after a boss fight.
Last I knew you could play it on wii? It's so sad. Square has the rights to it I believe. It's one of Mt all time favorite games.
I LOVE Actraiser! It is VERY important to note that this is only about Actraiser 1 NOT Actraiser 2. Avoid Actraiser 2 at all costs that game SUCKS!
The Last of US 1-2, the "Citizen Kanes" of gaming - everyone deserves to experience them.
Other than that... Demon's Souls, Dark Souls 1-3, Sekiro, etc. I'd love to watch people try. I keep trying to convince my colleagues to try them out so I can watch them struggle:P
@Maroxad: Yeah man. For some people, exercise is almost as effective for treating depression as psychotropics or therapy.
Absolutely.
I suffered from depression, and immediately discarded my sedimentary lifestyle, and went to the gym. Then COVID happened, and I got Ring Fit Adventure. Only downside is the fact that my muscles get sore after an intense workout.
But I am happier than ever.
Guacamelee
Subnautica
Halo CE multiplayer (capture the flag, ghosts only, on original Xbox)
Vanquish
Sleeping Dogs

Nice. Yeah, my wife has struggled with depression most of her life, and exercise really helps her keep it under control. Which is why she's so ripped now :)
@dimebag667: I've spent a bunch of time with both games... Helldivers is awesome, but extremely difficult if you don't trust your mates. If you want the most out of Helldivers, practice, communicate and work together in all things... Its crazy hard any other way.
Alienation I played waaaay more of because it's as accessible to anyone and can be drop in/drop out with multi-player and still feel like you've got a shot. It's very well balanced. Still amazing with friends, highly recommend.
Helldivers is best played by a thoroughly invested squad, but man, when you hold off the horde and make an escape in Helldivers it's dark souls, "we did it!" type joy.
The best of the classic 8-bit games. I don't know if a modern, young audience can appreciate those games, but they should at least try them.
There are too many classics to mention, but here are a few suggestions :
Defender of the Crown, Bruce Lee, Commando, Spy Hunter, Bubble Bobble, Double Dragon, Ghost'n'Goblins. Play on C64 or Arcade.
I still have my Ring Fit...in the closet lol. But from what I tried, it was cool..Definitely gives you a workout. But you need a good amount of space for it, and also, a spot where you can jump a lot lol.
There are heaps, but I'll mention a few great indies...
I keep almost pulling the trigger on Katana Zero. It looks right up my alley.

It's amazing... I bought it on a whim, and had an absolute blast with it. I have played it probably 3-4 times now and just adore it. Looking forward to the DLC they have planned soon.
In general I think first person puzzle games is an excellent genre, with not enough recognition. Games like Antichamber, the Turing test, Soul Axiom, the Room and so on.
Perfect way to get a break from the typical action game 🤓!
