I have 30+ stars so far in Mario Galaxy. The awe that I am getting from this game is the same feeling I had when I first played Mario 64. For those of you who were old enough to witness the transition from SNES/PS to Mario64, you will understand that this is quite an achievement.
I simply cannot describe to you the amazing nature of this title. The controls are so seemless and intuitive. While the whole time allowing you to do things never before possible in any other game, simply due to the locked freedom in control controllers gave their players.
This game brings it's fans an experiance that is out of this world ( pun :P ), filled with vibrant graphics and varied gameplay which not only puts it together well, but also showcases ideas and concepts of how the Wii really could change the face of gaming. Just a simple example being this one planet which has you ride the back of a Manatee, and essentially jet sky across this river of raging waves. The control scheme coupled with the rumble makes your really makes you feel like you entire right hand is the manatee itself - and makes you think... wow, if they turned this into Wave Race... it would be amazing. This kind of awe is found consistantly throughout the gameplay I have experianced thus far.
The bottom line is. This is the best platformer... ever. I think Gamespot realized this, and may have killed the R&C score, to purposely signify how much of another league Mario Galaxy is, from any other platformer out there.
