Gamespot gave R&C a low score to signify how amazing Mario Galaxy is

I think the point flew over your head. R&C may be a wonderful game. However, I am saying, Mario Galaxy is a masterpiece.

People didn't kill the score of Halo 3 just because Half-life 2 and CS: Source blow it out of the water (and they both came out years beforehand). If they did lower Ratchet and Clanks score a small bit I could understand that; a few websites dropped the score of Resistance because of how revolutionary Gears of War was and I can understand that as long as it is only a small drop.

Maybe in your opinion, but I have played both and though I liked Halo 3 it was nothing compared to CS: Source or Half-life 2. Anyway I'm saying that one exceptional game in a genre shouldn't destroy the scores of other games in the same genre; they should have an influence but the game should be mostly judged on its own merit.

I do not believe the GS review was anticipating Mario Galaxy. I believe that Aaron flat out disliked the game whether that was because it was on PS3 or because he doesn't like platforming I do not know, but I doubt it was because he expected SMG to be so much better.

I have a 1080p Samsung 71F... trust me, it looks gorgous :) It appears that Mario Galaxy is able to avoid the whole 480p looking bad on 1080p tvs problem - I don't know how, but it does. I am using component cables though, which helps as well. I actually was wondering at one point, whether the mandatory firmware update did anything to alleviate that issue. I havn't tried another copy to check tho.

People played Final Fantasy and Metal Gear in 87. Guess we should forget them too.

R & C got a low score because its basically a PS2 game with PS3 graphics.

After all Sony have said about how powerful the PS3 supposedly is people have a right to expect more than just a sequel with better graphics.

Someone already did that. That one magazine gave SMG a 9 and R&C a 6 and in the R&C review they basically just insulted it for not being as good as SMG.
