What the hell is GameSpot thinking giving MGS4 a 10.
The game is in no way 'perfection'.
The stealth mechanics are pretty much the same as its predecessor. You have the camo and have a percentage of how well you are seen. Additional items and your "Camo-suit" that contribute more to stealth don't do much more to make it different.
The gameplay is a little more refined allowing you to have full control of the camera. Being able to customize your guns is nice, but it's been done before as well as the "money/merchant system" *cough* RE4 *cough*
The story telling is still top notch, but the same thing as other MGS titles. As I believe Kojima said roughly, "If you don't like the previous installments, MGS4, won't change your mind" or something to that affect.
Now please, I'm aware that the MGS/Sony fanboys will be here soon, but let me tell you, I'm not bashing MGS4, just the ridiculousness and inconsistency of the GameSpot reviewing staff. I'm sick that they pick and choose which games (pretty much sequels) that they want to decide if they will dub it a masterpiece or more of the same (Twilight Princess debacle anyone?).
I don't even know why people here care about GameSpot's scores so much anyway (And don't give me that 'WELL THIS IS GAMESPOT FORUMS!1! - play the game yourself and form your own damn opinion rather than being told what's "better"). Especially Sony fanboys bragging that they have the first AAAAE somehow making their system so much better and justifying why it's got better games because of such a meaningless score (reminds me when the SMG won GOTY).
*sigh*
/end rant
This place sucks now - and to prove it, see how long this thread lasts.
...And don't get me started on GTA4
