My guess is it will be a brawl between GT5, SC2, LBP2, GOW3 and H:R, with my guess going to either GT5 or SC2. Right now SC2 is my GOTY, but some of the games I listed are still unreleased and might impress me.

Here's another pattern: since the PC and console sites merged in 2002, no PC game has won GotY. Or maybe that's another conspiracy. So while the TC didn't really point out any patterns, there are at least three:[QUOTE="subrosian"]If SC2 doesn't get GOTY, GameSpot is simply wrong. :P I don't see a "pattern", "conspiracy" or "agenda" here though, it seems like a diverse set of games win GOTY.ianuilliam
1. GotY is always a 9.0 or higher exclusive this gen (2006 to present)
2. AAAAE always win GotY (1996 to present; MGS4, Chrono Cross, Soul Calibur, Zelda:OoT)
3. PC games haven't won GotY since PC and console have been combined (2002 to present)
I think you're spot on besides the fact that World Of Warcraft, a PC game, won in 2004 :).

So far my GOTY is Red Dead Redemption, followed by God Of War 3 and Mass Effect 2. I'm thinking it'll be between SC2, SMG2, and LBP2.
[QUOTE="fabz_95"]Lol, the last 4 GOTYs were pretty different from each other :P. Anyway, I think SMG2 will win GOTY, I know having the highest score doesn't mean you'll get GOTY (look at Demon's Souls) but the game really is an amazing one, I'll be surprised if it doesn't win it.R4gn4r0k
Lots of amazing games have been and will be released this year. There is no certainty of what will win.
Of course not, but SMG2 is my GOTY and GS clearly like the game a lot too since they gave it a 10. I personally think it's the best game of the year so far, GameSpot have given it the highest rating of the year so far, I'll be surprised if it doesn't win game of the year.I'm betting on a certain FPS taking the title this year and just in case, I'm not gonna take any chances so....

 No way man, though I'm silly enough to do something like that under the right conditions....Maybe after 12 pack or two. 8)
GOTY so far for me, between Bayonetta and SMG2.
But i think SC2 has a good chance to win, either that or SMG2, i honestly don't see RDR winning, and Reach or GT5, well, we are going to have wait to see the scores and all.
Well they got GotY '09 right -- Demons' Souls has been the best game to come out this gen. If they pick SC2 for GotY '10 they'll be on a roll...

WoW, how'd I miss that? Oh well, change pattern #3 to 2005 to present. Still holds true for this gen. The big one though is #2. There have been 5 AAAAE ever on Gamespot (or the console gaming site, before they merged). Every one of them so far has been awarded GotY. Unless Reach or GT5 or LBP or something gets a 10, SMG2 looks like the safest bet.WoW, how'd I miss that? Oh well, change pattern #3 to 2005 to present. Still holds true for this gen. Your logic is missing THPS3 only AAAAE of 2001. That said you have been missing a lot, leave these conspiracies and patterns to rest.

Wasn't THPS3 on every system in existence? Of course... I don't know when all those versions came out... it might have been AAAAE when 2001's GotYs were done, and gone multiplat later (kinda like how Gears was exclusive when it got GotY, then went multiplatform the next year). Oh well. Haven't you ever heard that old saying, it's the exceptions that prove the patterns? :)Please Log In to post.
