I think most people are aware that Steam is usually only better with regards to their sale prices.

So how about comparing the new prices? Like how you get a new game with Steam. And then steam has sales that blow gamestop out of the water.

I don't think it's very fair to compare the price of used games to downloads. Valve doesn't really set the price for these games, it's the publishers. As if they're going to make the download cheaper. Regardless, the prices when steam has sales beat the crap out of Gamestop. And soon enough games like GTA Vice City wont even be sold at Gamestop.vashkey

And that's why you buy during sales. There are sales every week, and it's not that hard to find a game worth buying on Steam. Gamestop, on the other hand, only has a real sale once in a while, and even then, most of them suck compared to how much you can save elsewhere. The big sales are the only ones that get my attention.RogueShodown

Sales have even gone daily on Steam (which is ****ing great), but like I said, they aren't great outside of them. The reason boils down to mostly publishers having a huge say over the pricing. It's not strictly Valve's fault. However, you can certainly find many older games for dirt cheap (like pretty much all places, brick and mortar included).

It's a given that used will be cheaper. It's unreasonable to expect new to be cheaper.

But really what cheaper alternative do PC gamers have. I can't think of one.

Gamestop's better deals on average gives you more choice in when and what you want to get. With steam I'm forced to buy whatever is currently on sale. 2-10-08
