At least buying the game from steam you give the money to the devs instead of that cancer of video games industry that is gamestop.

Fallout: New Vegas is $50 on Steam, yet $30 at Best Buy, Walmart, and Amazon. Wonder why. :?

Steam is overpriced most of the time, but the sales are amazing. Just look back at the EA week and stuff like that, the prices ridiculous on steam sales. I dont like buying second hand games.

steam is a private company, there isnt any investors other than the owner himself Gabe. This means that maximizing profits isn't as big a priority and steam won't try to rip you off with their prices. I hope it stays a private company, I prefer to buy my games cheap.

Hope your pockets are loaded PC gamers, because the fact is Console gaming is cheaper.

[QUOTE="MrSelf-Destruct"][QUOTE="2-10-08"] I'm sure amazon console prices would be equally proportional. StrifeDelivery

But you just said you were comparing and Gamestop and Steam. Now you are back to comparing Consoles and PC? It seems the entire argument goes from one to the other depending on which one works for you at the time. What is your real point here?

I don't think it is that hard. OP's point was that the Gamestop used game sales (which he or she tried to link to console gaming by the last sentence in the OP) is a better deal than Steam (which is oriented to PC's). Thus while this thread is about Gamestop vs. Steam, it's also covertly about Console vs. PC prices and what not. A quick note is that my analysis of the OP's point does not necessarily mean I agree with the statements he or she provided :)

Wait, the TC's prices were used copies? That's pretty fail.

steam is by far the better system..

can gamestop help me communicate with friends?

can it take screens of my games as im playing them?

will it patch my games for me?

will it store my games library making it impossible for me to loose one?

will it give me access to game mod's and servers, and sdk?

will it ever spontaneously drop 20-30 dollars games to under $5?

will it ever stop tossing games off te shelves to make room for "newer games" so i can buy the ****cs I WANT

will it ever let me send games to my friends or recieve tem from friends

until gamestop can do any of these tings TC STFU and GTFO:

I dont shop at gamestop often but I love the sales staff that works at the one over by where I live.

I talked to them about the negative perception gamers ahve of them and they admit that some stores just arent a friendly enviorment but their

store really is great. The guys there are very knowledgebale and exteremly helpful. A couple of them frequent these forums from time to time.

At the gamestop near me, there's one guy who actually knows what he's talking about. He's helpful to everyone, he even recommended my mom some games like Professor Layton. Some of the people there are obviously not gamers though, this one lady was saying stuff that made me want to pull my hair out.
