Big mistake on their part, the Wii-U will do very poorly with it's lame gimmick
Davekeeh
Even if the Wii-U does poorly, it does not change the fact that the PS2 is a dated console and its games are piling up at their store. This move is not only inacpition for the Wii-U, its likely being done also to prepare for Sony and Microsoft's next system. People may love the PS2, but its glory days are well-behind it and many people are no longer intrested in the system as a whole. My PS2 has sat unused for almost two years, and many Gamestops in my area have piles of PS2 games that are sitting on shelves that nobody is buying.
Gamestop was also the last major chain to stop selling the PS2 and its games. Walmart, Target, and Toys R Us might still have a few older PS2 games laying around, but they have dropped any real support for the system in their stores. I would not be surprised if the PS2 is retired within the nest year or so. The writing is on the wall, and Sony really has no reason to keep supporting the system.
It had a good run, and it will now join other classic systems like the SNES, PS1, and NES in the Video Game graveyard.
So what are they gonna do with the games? Throw em out? Capitan_KidI imagine they will discount them a little bit more every week until they are all sold. Or maybe they will just put them in warehouses to sell online as classics.
Or become HD collections. I for one would love to see a Wild Arms collection, consisting of 3, 4, 5, and Alter Code: F on 1 disc, and 1, 2, and XF as PSN vouchers. (even though I already have WA1 and 2 as PSN downloads lol) It IS a Sony franchise, after all....There's still many PS2 games I missed out on. I hope more become downloadable.

So if never owned a Ps2 is it worth buy one cheap now before it is gone?

PS2 is always worth it... I0m thinking of getting one soon.
maybe so, but this gen has stolen a lot of once PS2 exclusives, the devil may cry games, god of war games, ico, SOTC, Killzone, Okami, Bully, etc. etc. There's a lot I've missed too, but I'll be looking online (ebay, amazon, etc), as well as pawn shops, mom and pop retro stores, and flea markets. There's still many PS2 games I missed out on. I hope more become downloadable.

So i heard but i mean if it is worth get it this late...
It maybe is hard find games for it when it is a dead platform now?
Does it have many platformers if you like mario etc?
It's not at all hard to find games for. Most are 5-10 bucks or less as well if you know where to look. It has pretty much everything, I remember hearing somewhere the ps2 has the largest library of games of any console so you're bound to find something you like. Please Log In to post.
