The list isnt really about the 10 best games of the decade, but the most revolutionary and with bigger impact on the industry, the ones that influenced many other games. If it were about the top 10 best games, GTA SA would have been there instead of GTA 3 and so on. So Shadow of Colossos shouldnt be first at all, i dont think it was very revolutionary or had many influence in many other games, maybe it shouldnt even be on top 10, but alright. Said this, and as the list follows this criteria i might agree with FFX no being there, but if this was really about the top 10 best games, then it should be there.

Biggest Impact? If that's the case, then Wii Sports and Wii Fit should be on there.

Was influence a pre-requisite? A game can't be on the list for simply being an excellent game?

Well Halo:CE influenced MOST FPS games on consoles. So there is some sense in that decision. ZippySlappy

I dont agree with RE4 on the list. Remake beats the crap out if it. There are others I dont care for like galaxy or halo. Well its thier list of opinions so watever.

World of Warcraft at No.1 is ridiculous.. and galaxy should be higher..

Wii Sports and Wii Fit are gimmicks, not story driven games. Devil May Cry is trully astounding when it first came out, infact, there wasnt anything like it, and pretty much every hack n slash adventure game has used and abused the DMC formula since. It was designed amazingly, and its a shame the remaining DMC series lack that "artistic" touch that DMC1 had. DMC3 however was brilliant but again, no good art direction.

Regardless, there still is a story nevertheless. Also, every title there are related to last gen titles, and have had the biggest impact on the industry.

ALTTP is one of my top 3 favorite games of all time and my favorite game of the 90's. However it shouldn't count because the game was originally released in 92 and games that should be on a list of best of the deacde should be original games released in those 10 years. Obviously GT didn't put any GBA or any other rereleases or else we would have saw Chrono Trigger, Super Mario 64 Advance, FFVI Advance, Super Mario Advance, etc.

I will say it has aged well but hey put it on your greatest of the decade list. I'm not stopping you.

I grade it a 6/10, DMC, LoZ:TP, and Metroid Prime shouldn't be there and I don't think RE4 should be as high as third (but I'd probably give it a latter-end spot at 8 or 10 maybe). I'm sort of surprised to see how much of the shaft decade-raters have been giving MGS4 but glad to see they still remember how awesome SotC was.

I was half expecing Modern Warfare 2 at the top of the list. It is Gametrailers after all.

Agree with most of the list, but replace TP with Deus Ex.

Also, to people who don't think that Metroid Prime was influential, what planet are you on? MP was called a "First Person Adventure", and it was the first of its kind. Games like bioshock simply would not exist in the same way without MP's influence. Besides that, it ramped up the standard for quality in all First Person games.

ign only picked from their GOTY's this decade

while GT is pritty random

considering some of the games on the list (TP) , and the placement of others, like halo on 3rd

they should have made the criteria for those games clear, now it just seems like more personal opinions, insted of taking it from the neutral side,

whice would be like "the most influencal games this decade" or "best scoring games" ect.

Pretty good list. I'd personally have Baldur's Gate 2 on top, followed by Halo: CE and thereafter either GTA 3 or Half-Life 2.

Needs some Chronicles of Riddick as well, GOTY 2004 imo.

well your probably right, going by that they made the list pritty right, considering

how many play the game

how ofen its copied

and fun factor

however ALL those games are copied alot .they basicly picked the iconic games of every genre

mario for platformer

halo for FPS

GTA for sandbox

zelda for action/advantrue ect.

and their placement was based on how popular the genre itself was.

which resulting in halos high rank, becouse FPS is argubly the consoles best selling genre

while the PC with its MMO's clearly has more players

Wind Waker should replace Twilight Princess because it has a nice change to Ocarina of Time and Resident Evil 4 fully deserves a place well it felt fresh because the others were getting a bit stale.

How can you not see the impact Halo:CE had on gaming?

Great games no doubt...But it would be near-impossible for me to limit my list to 10.
