@charizard1605: There are some games I want to play on it. The main ones being Mario Kart, Smash, the new Zelda, Star Fox, and Xenoblade Chronicles looks interesting. My concern with it is Nintendo might ditch it after this year. I've enjoyed Nintendo consoles in the past but the Wii was complete trash imo.
What interests me most about PC gaming are the cheap prices of games and huge overall library. I have a friend who plays on PC and will help me build it for free if I pay for the parts so it wouldn't cost too much. The obvious overlap in games is why I'm hesitant but the savings on games makes it seem like a good long term investment.
The Wii was pretty eh. The Wii U is certainly better, and I think Nintendo will support it through to 2016's end (plus there's the backlog that comes with a new purchase), and it is getting great games this year...
That said, a PC is a more future proof purchase, and there are entire genres available on PC that you wouldn't be able to get anywhere else, including Wii U and PS4. So while there might be a larger overlap between PC and PS4... there's also a significant portion of games on PC that PS4 doesn't have (and vice versa, I imagine).
Do you know anyone who has a Wii U? That way, at least you would still be able to play the big releases even if you do go for a PC. If not, I still say do PC now, pick up a Wii U on the cheap later (you can get them for as cheap as $200 from Nintendo's site, so that might be a nice thing to buy during holiday season or something).
