Gears 2 or Resistance 2 : Which one has better graphics (technically)?

IMO, it doesn't matter if GeoW 2 looks the same as GeoW 1 as I don't even think Resistance 2 is on par graphically with the first Gears game.

I think Resistance 2 is actually far more comparable to its own predecessor.

I think it's ridiculous that some people think Resistance is some kind of graphical behemoth.

I don't know why this is even a contest. Gears 2 is the OBVIOUS winner against Resistance 2 graphically.

Gears 2 and Killzone 2 are more comparable with Killzone 2 perhaps edging Gears out.

I was thinking the exact same thing..err..i think this thread is living proof that fanboyisem can truly make you blind. It's no contest, how people are seriously suggesting resistence is better, is close or (this one had to be a joke) has more enemys on screen i do not know.

This is a no brainer, i don't believe it's even being discussed. It's like claiming resistences graphics are better than gears of wars...er no.

anyways .. GEARS 2 def.... this is not a very good comparison.. resistance never even tried to advertise what they are offering in the graphics dept... how bout killzone2.. now thats a match.

looking that picture the only noticable difference is the lesser draw distance.

it depends really, resistance will have larger more detailed environments, its what insomniac does, but gears may have better textures.

Its hard to say which will look best at the moment.

I fail to see why either of these games are being hyped so much. They both just seem so typical. I'm just pretty "meh" about both of them.

I'm looking forward to Prince of Persia and Little Big Planet myself.

the tc just had VERY VERY bad comparisons. im a cow. and graphics wise,r2 doesnt come close to gears, but graphics are not everything my friends. if it is, then maybe you guys are just lemming, or a shallow gamer.

Bigger environments? The actual area you can walk in is smaller than killzone 2, and imo the background bits in killzone 2 look more 3d and generally better. Plus there is more destructability in the environments.

I really think gears 2 should be compared with Resistance 2, it actually looks quite good. The 1st one is highly underrated in graphics. Killzone 2 is on a whole different level.

The first few might be true, but you can't say which has the bigger environments as you haven't played them. R2 has never been about graphics though, so why the two are even being compared is beyond me.

GeOW2 is not that good. It should be called Gears of War 1a because it offeres little to no improvements whatsoever. Even the devs have said so, im just sick of all these comparisons. Resistance 2 is far superior in terms of...well everything, to GeOW1a. GeOW1a is a screenshot demon because it looks good in static, as all thats ever in front of you is the one guy so of course they will pay extreme attention to detail. Resistances world looks amazing, the buildings and textures and everything is just incredible.pseudocaesar

When the heck did the devs say it has little to no improvements??! it has SO MANY improvements and new things that it really does deserve to be called gears 2. ok lets see the gameplay in gears of war 2 is so much more unique and its fresh unlike ANOTHER generic shooter like R2. the graphics in gears 2, tell me when you need to see some pics of gears 2 k? k. gears 2 has waaaay better graphics its not even funny. sound, the voice-acting in gears2 is oscar worthy. the sounds of the guns sound more realistic and they changed the sounds of pretty much all guns. story, well i dono about story of gears 2 but epic is saying that the story will be very good in the 2nd but i also hear that the resistance story sound awesome too. so i dono about that category. Multiplayer, 60 v 60 doesnt automatically make a game better. Gears 2 mp has new modes, much more maps, destructo environments can be used to kill other players/AI in SP AND MP. more weapons and the scale of battles for SP has grown so its actually hordes of locust fighting you. what does R2 do to make it SOOO great?

insomniac is notorious for giving unpolished e3 demos. trust me, what you saw at e3 is not the real game.

There will be a Resistance Media blow out/coverage during this week. We should be getting screens from a more up to date version of the game :)

Hopefully they added the awesome lightning, dismemberment, improved graphics/textures and better A.I :)

GeOW2 VS R2 is not even worth uploading screen shots for as it's obvious from videos that Gears 2 is better.

GeOW2 and Killzone 2 is a much better comparison.
