I think it's too early for a new Gears. People have probably had enough for now.Give it some time. Make it an xbox 720 launch game and the hype will be massive.
It will add to a very impressive 360 lineup and be the biggest megaton announcement. Expect itholiday 2010. Oh btw, I also called Gears 2 to be released in 2008 when nobody was even talking about it or thinking about it. So please repeat history and tell me how I am crazy and I am just wishing once again. Gears 3 and Alan Wake are the one two microsoft punch!!!!!

There's nothing to compete against the Blizzard juggernaut. Overshadows the whole generation. I can only think about Diablo III to surpass Starcraft II success.

My guess is that it will be announced at E3 2010, released sometime 2011. And it won't be called Gears of War 3, unless it makes sense to call the prequel '3'. And it will be a prequel, anyone who read Jacintos Remnant knows this. :p
