I fail to see how this could be considered the king when it not only did not significantly outscore any of the other top games out there.. But is by no means the most popular, WoW Lich King is releasing tommorw with a active population of 11 million accounts, as well as recieveing major media attention due to its popularity.

I admit as great as those numbers are and they are great Halo3 would still be king at this point if we are talking about the enitre gen. I see WotlK doing great numbers also. So this gen will be Halo3 for console and WotlK for all.

As far as the 10 for MGS4 Gamerankings.com MGS4 is ranked 76 and Gears 2 is ranked 45. So more reviewers agree Geasr 2 is the better game. Lucky you picked one of the few sites where MGS4 scored higher.

Exactly, now you're just being selective.  Does that mean I can say Wii Sports is the king of this gen because they are different types of games and you can't include FPS now?  Self-owned?  I think so.

Multiplayer is craptastic IMO. They turned the game from a shotgunfest into a chainsaw fest. You can literally pop someone from point blank with a shotgun and still have them revving the chainsaw coming at you and kill you with it. Hope that gets patched soon.

Single player is pretty good. I keep losing my checkpoints mid-mission though. It's really annoying me. Get 3/4 of the way through a level only to have my checkpoint "lost" and have to start the level over again.

It doesn't even rank up as good as CoD:WaW IMO (especially in terms of multiplayer).

Gears of War 2 is the best of the 2008 and one of the best game in the gen

Everyone but you. No one is mentioning PC gaming specifically...simply mentioning other games that are superior to Gears 2. The fact that you focus solely on PC gaming as an "outlet" is just showing more of your insecurity when it comes to PC gaming. Most people have mentioned R2, MGS4, and GTA4 or others here. Since when was R2 and MGS4 on PC? One guy mentions WoW and you flip off the handle. :roll:

Even i own a 360 (though it's only the 2nd console i've ever owned since i started gaming in 1990 on PC, other one was a N64) though it was a gift when i moved away from home. I still play it from time to time. I don't understand your insecurity towards PC gaming. You simply write off any game on PC as irrelevant. Like you said, this is System Wars. PC is a system. I actually am a much much larger console gamer than I am a PC gamer.  Really my PC was only a WoW box for a very long time.  Console gaming is a superior medium for my preferred genres, though I can hardly call it a general "king", as one needs to make up their own criteria.  PCs aren't king of what? Even though I prefer console gaming, I realize that, this generation, the PC is a monster in terms of high quality exclusives.

gta is the most boring game i've played this game.

heck i had more fun with gun then with gta4. gta4 was all about how real the game looks, i really miss the old gta, Gta SA is one of the best games all time.

Oh, I know that PC has dominated quite a majority of generations.  I just mentioned this generation since it was in the context of this thread. I admittedly haven't been that avid a PC gamer, perhaps since I was raised on consoles and my preferred genre (JRPGs) basically only exist on consoles/handhelds.  Don't get me wrong though, I enjoyed WoW for years as well as some of the gems like Grim Fangando.

When Epic makes a PC specific game worth buying or releases a title like Gears 2 either very soon after or simultaneously with the console release then you'll see higher PC sales for them. Until then, they can complain all they want. Gears of War sold near 1 million despite it being a 1 year old port. Crytek? They're just complaining. Crysis alone sold near 2 million copies (not sure about Warhead as i haven't seen figures on it yet). Blizzard? Never heard them complain considering their past few titles were WC3/Frozen Throne and WoW/Burning crusade. Both of which have sold millions as well as their Starcraft IP (hence SC2 being exclusive to PC). My point was that, despite piracy, many upon many PC games still sell 1+ million copies. Considering there are no royalty fees (not expecting you to know about this) when developing on PC due to it being an open platform and having no MS/Sony/Nintendo in the picture as well as the vastly less development costs on the PC, in most cases, that means profits (as with Sins of a Solar Empire incurring massive profit margins from their sales).

The ironic thing is that, despite being wrong about what you said, you still won't admit that you do nothing but claim PC games and PC gaming in general as "irrelevant" when they are both relevant to everyone but you. Just stop doing that and you'll be fine.

Edit: Check the current Epic quotations. Gears 2 not releasing on PC simultaneously was due to 360 focus, not piracy. Mark Rein said this himself. Same thing was said for Gears 1.

And yet, despite all those "articles", the PC still has the most exclusives AAA/AA. Ironic isn't it? ;)
