Gears of War 2 update goes Live News

I haven't purchased the game yet but have heard the many complaints about some of the on line issues. This sounds like it will help many here have a better experience with the game.

Little SW flavor: Will this update make Gears 2 a 9.5 now and be at least considered as a GOTY candidate. :P j/k

Epic has unleashed a beefy patch for Gears of War 2 that should make online multiplayer much more enjoyable.

All manner of exploits from turning invisible to shooting while Roadie Running are no longer possible, and an chunky pile of stability bugs have been stamped out.

On top of that are balancing tweaks to bring back the idea of fair play, plus a host of improvements including those seven new map pack-related Achievements we told you about earlier.

The second title update arrives as Gears of War 2 tops 4 million sales in two months and the Combustible Map Pack finishes as the "number one piece of premium downloadable content" on Xbox Live for December.

Epic is far from finished, though, and promises continued support for the Gears of War 2 community and to further address any bugs, exploits or balancing issues that arise.

Maybe now everyone will stop whining about this game being broken. I think its in the top 3 games this gen, I couldn't be happier with the campaign, horde mode, and now multi player is fixed its the perfect action game.

But people will still moan about something.

This is what bothers me about blind fanboys. They fixed a lot of the minor stuff and let the major stuff slip through.

1. No comment, fine.
2. I mostly play by myself, so why should I be forced to join up with friends??? It takes just as long to get into matches.
3. Shotgun has a mind of its own. With the lag the damage is almost always variable, sometimes it takes 1 shot to the legs and they're down or you can shoot a guy 3 times in the face and nothing. And lets not start on blind firing.
4. In any game with latency the shotgun has ZERO stopping power against a guy running at you with a chainsaw.

Now of course I could turn the other cheek, but alas no, I paids my monies and got a broken multiplayer. The glitches and other minor fixes are small fish when they didn't fix the lag, shotgun and matchmaking issues.

Too late for me. I rented it instead and did what I wanted with it. Had the online been better when I was still playing it, I might have bought it, but I have since moved on, and decided that Epic has continued to let me down in online play this gen on 360. Sorry but they fixed the most glaring issues with this patch, you can't expect every damn little problem to fixed in one patch. They fixed the glitching and cheating, they balanced the weapons more and other tweaks. I seriously don't know how you people play online games if you can't accept lag, its in every game whether you admit it or not. hopesfall2own

Meh, Insomniac and Treyarch already put these guys to shame. I never play Gears 2 online anyway, so no biggie.Floppy_Jim
