Gears of War 4 at 4K and HDR will be the best looking game ever

This e3 has been amazing. Whatever it takes to put lems up on a pedestal so its that much more fun watching them crash down to the ground.

I think everyone is missing the point -- Gears 4 SHOULD look better on a more powerful machine. It's a stupid, moot point. If it didn't look better than current games on a new 6tflop 4k super uber machine, then that would be asinine.

@casharmy: Bro, I can confirm TheEroica is not a lemming. The dude is actually an old school gamer, who loves classic Nintendo. His favorite system this generation is the PS Vita. He does not even own an Xbox One, has no interest in PC gaming, and has otherwise no ties to Xbox- except for the fact that his favorite system last generation was an Xbox 360.

That's because he found it better, he found it more fitting to what he wanted. The fact that he went and bought a PS4 and PS Vita this generation instead of blindly sticking with Microsoft out of some misguided sense of loyalty should be proof enough that he is no lemming, he's just a dude who loves playing games, and will go wherever he finds them the best.

Graphics don't make a great game if you judge a game by graphics Order 1886 should be a top game but it aint. And Ryse is a solid game but its not exactly the best game either.

Gears in my opinion is the best third person shooter ever made for any platform.

I don't know what you don't understand about me giving this example and there is nothing hypocritical here. There is nothing hypocritical about my post clarifying to users what is off-topic and NOT relevant in my thread to what appears to be fanboys with the IQ far below 70. This was me trying to explain to what appears to be brain dead posters what is NOT a talking point in my thread. Char I didn't ask for a run down of what TheEroica owns....that means nothing and I already knew the systems he's owned for the most part (PS4, 360 ect) has nothing to do with being a fanboy or biased toward any particular system or group. You aren't new to sysetm wars char and you know you don't need to own a sysetm in order to be a fanboy of a brand or company so stop the white knighting for TheEroica based on sysetm ownership.

I only mentioned you to confirm the FACT that lems hyped Forza Horizon AAA then then when it flopped they tried to argue it didn't flop...you were in the thread, you counted the posts because LEMS made that claim.....and YOU confirmed that it was AAA hype based on votes. @casharmy: Forza Horizon was hyped AAA, and then knocked down to AA post facto (one of the reasons we had stricter rules about hype threads going forward). This I can confirm (apologies, Gamespot's notifications system is busted today, and I did not see the post you tagged me in at all).

That said, I am just clarifying that he's really not a lem, and he has no agenda towards any fanboy group. Just trying to diffuse the situation, man. He loves games, and you do too- and I don't think you two should be arguing or fighting, is all.

I loved supporting the xbox 360 and I won't apologize for that opinion as it was the very best console last gen.. This gen is different and I had zero issue with that because as Charizard just articulated, I don't do the slave thing when it comes to hardware. I'm a free man.

I'm also not about to make excuses for or pretend that any one platform is perfect or a total failure because thats just silly. The ps4 has flaws... Sorry. It does. The xbox one has more in my opinion. Taking things to the extreme PoV when someone disagrees with your opinion is not a recipe for successfully making a point. I've given Microsoft zero gaming dollars for like 4 years, I've openly bashed their approach to gen 8 gaming and I'm highly skeptical that they'll acend back to the heights of their fantastic, though flawed xbox 360 which factually pushed gaming in a direction it is still traveling.

These are true unbiased opinions. No added ingredients.

I just gave my opinion on how this game looks to "me" and some users went berserk as they felt the need to tear down my post and undermine my opinion by insinuating a motive behind it or slandering the entire sony fanbase.

It does look great, but I'm not sure GoW4 in 4k on a PC advances either party line in the SW - nor am I convinced it is the best looking 4k game on PC ever

But 4K and HDR == Best graphics ever.

The truth hurts. A user can call out a faction without being a fanboy. There have been Cows, Lems, Sheep and Herms critical of their base. It happens all the time. There are only a select few here that will lie, create alts, selectively lose the ability to read, and so on in order to get a "win" for their favorite toy. And I agree with the hype comment. Cows talk a big game until it's time for the hype thread. Then everything is AA. "I was talking about the graphics" ends up beings the justification most of the time. But hey, the wounds from The Last of Us review still haven't totally healed. Uncharted 4 did help a ton though.

I dont think it will have the impact as the original on 360 when it came out, but I think they have time to make it a fun game. Certainly better than the last one,

Gears 4 looks like ass. Lems went from hyping it up as the biggest game of the year before E3 to pretending it doesn't exist after that embarrassing showing.

Gears would have to reinvent itself to achieve that sort of impact and at that point I doubt it would be Gears anymore. The series is pretty much reliant on the chainsaw gun, cover mechanics and horde mode. That doesn't leave a lot of room for growth. At least there are publishers like Naughty Dog that kind of know when it's time to move on to something else. And yes, Halo and Gears are made by different folks now, but man are they getting played out. Maybe if they put Gears of War in space, added a grappling hook or zombies it would be fresh again... Oh the possibilities.

Sweet! Now maybe I will reward myself by taking the rest of the day off to regain my sanity. Are you playing anything fun this weekend?

@GoldenElementXL: last day of work till September on Monday. This weekend and all summer I'll be maxing out the exquisite alienation, which is easily my current GOTY. Outside that you know I'm always up for some coop on anything under the sun. I game early on weekends.... You an early riser? Best time to game.

@TheEroica: Enjoy the break! I'm just coming off of a week off myself with another coming in July. I get 6 weeks a year which is nice, but obviously not as nice as what you get. That's awesome. As for your early weekend gaming, how early are we talking here? I usually like to stay up until 2 or 3 in the morning on weekends. But if I decide to break into Alienation I can swing an early morning or 2. Is it as brutal as Helldivers? Because I tried playing that game by myself and it's pretty tough.

@GoldenElementXL: helldivers is next to impossible to climb the difficulty without a well seasoned and capable squad. The brilliance of helldivers is it's unabashed dedication to making its collaboration with players the gameplay high point. Things like friendly fire and waves of enemies are intimidating to some, but when you find other kindred spirits who understand what the game wants you to do, there are few experiences thus far in gen 8 that match from a pure gameplay perspective....

Alienation is like an arcade style version of helldivers with loot... Its no where near as punishing as there are quick revives and respawn checkpoints scattered around the map... The combat is fast and furious and yes it also asks you to stay frosty with friends, but where it augments on the helldivers design is the loot.

Alienation is Diablo with guns.... There is no better functioning loot system and elemental breakdown inventory in gaming at the moment and the climbing of the ladder to better weapons, skills and perks is just so addicting. Working with friends to bring down that area boss only to spawn a legendary shotgun is like, "yep let's keep going baby!" and once again, finding a crew to roll with is appointment gaming.

I'm an East coaster, same as you if I remember. I game most mornings between 630 and 9am (probably later this summer....) and with not much to do till September I'll he in on some summer nights. Say the word and I'm in. @getyeryayasout: and I have been rolling through that game. We can get you leveled quick.

I'd also say, tell me what your playing and I'll grab it for our coop in the future.

But back on topic, I don't think HDR is going to make that much of a difference. But it'll definitely be a great looking game regardless.

@TheEroica: just reminded of the days when the Cloud was talked about nonstop here as being some kind of graphical ace in the hole for the Xbox brand with the same ignorance (willful or not) of the context of what the technology actually allowed.

HDR is incredible, easily the most least heard of graphical feature and far more impactful than even 4k. Too bad you need a $1000 TV to display it properly. :(

I highly doubt this linear game would be the best looking 4k game when I play it this fall. All that video has was an environmental effect that would if removed would make an uninteresting level design.
