As a PC gamer primarily and a 360 gamer second, I totally disagree. Gears still looks better than the majority of recent PC games. OF course the PC version will be able to give us better AA and AF, which will get rid of a lot of the shimmer and washed out textures in the distance, but other wise, Gears on 360 still looks bloody amazing.
[QUOTE="jokerandspidey"]I agree that it needs a face lift because in it's current state to come out on the PC looks like crap for a PC game. I want this thing to take advantage of my (2)8800gtx's *wakes up from dreaming*turgore

Are you serious. I really don't think you played the game on an HDTV. It looks better than 99% of PC games right now. I only see Crysis looking better. But to say the textures are a mess is being in complete denial. Most people would disagree with u.

There is no opinion here. We are talking about technical prowess, and Gears being one of the first UE3 games out, it is TECHNICALLY superior to the majority of PC games out right now. Granted, that is because the UE3 engine hasn't been used much on the platform yet. I expect that to change quite quickly, with the PC coming out on top again, as usual.

Draw distance, texture resolution, LOD foliage, expansiveness, HDR, etc. Gears is easily beat when it comes to technical superiority.

Correct, I had to play it on an SDTV ... which obviously took away whateevr charm it was meant to have, is that my fault? kinda ... with only a 10% HDTV market.
The Character models has problems, I was supried it was even a 3rd person shooter with a freakin rectangle EAR in your screen constantly.

You've basically just explained Oblivion. Gears is not trying to be Oblivion. It doesn't need huge draw distance, or foliage, or expansiveness. It's a corridor crawler at heart. Now I can agree that Oblivion with mods on PC is prettier than Gears, hence the "99% of PC games". But name me other games that are out now that have more technical pizzazz than what the UE3 engine offers.
Releasing Gears of War on the PC is a mistake (if it has been confirmed, I was in Spain). Releasing Halo 2 on the PC was a mistake. The release of most 360 games on the PC (especially ones published by MS) is a total mistake. It's just underdcutting sales of their games, but more importantly, it's undercutting sales of their consoles. And for the record, Gears looks spectacular, no matter how much you'd like it not to. It was made with your favorite U3 engine ;)musicalmac
Microsoft needs Windows to be as successful at games as its Xbox brand ... if they lose such a huge advantage, Macintosh could take over them eventually, they already have more control over the printing/design industry than Windows.
Dont expect the Xbox to be prized above or below Windows Gaming.

I agree and I really don't see the problem with the PC getting the game. It doesn't diminish the fact that 360 owners got to play the game. And I'm sure any new content going to PC will be available as DLC.

There are dozens of PC games out there that win in the technical superiority aspect. However, the second you say, "looks better" it becomes an opinion.

I do agree with you there. However, bringing blockbuster titles to the PC years later (ala Halo 2, wasn't that a great success on the PC  ) is just bad business. Though, MS is in a difficult position with Vista NOT selling anywhere. It's all about DX10 at this point for MS. It reminds me of the PS3 and Blu-Ray, though :? . Never good business to force products into the market via other means. Thanks for your OPINION. You see, there are many games that are technically more superior than Gears. Actually Medieval2:TW, SupCom and Oblivion take more power to run maxxed out than Gears of War most likley. Considering G80's even have a hard time with SupCom on a 4v4 1000 unit cap per player game on Seton's Clutch.

That's more of an indication of the optimization of the game, not what it's doing. And SupCom(my favorite RTS at the moment BTW) has so many units on screen with individual AI calculations on each that hell yeah, its gonna need more powerful hardware. I'm presuming the same applies to Medieval2, and I've already stated my opinion on Oblivion.
All of this does not nullify the fact that Gears is a beast in the shooter genre. Lets not forget that this whole argument stemmed from someone saying that Gears would look like crap if it were released on PC in its current form, which is completely false.

Games like Gothic 3, SupCom, Vanguard, any many more defeat Gears in many different various technical aspects.[QUOTE="trix5817"][QUOTE="TheCrazed420"]Thanks for your OPINION. Yeah, Gears does look the best (actually I think Oblivion looks better with the mods installed, but whatever), but that's not what we are talking about here. We are talking about games that take a beast of a machine to run maxxed out, like SupCom because there's so much going on and so many units on screen. The bigger technical achievement goes to SupCom, but the best looking game goes to Gears.

Gears does have alinear edge suited to the console but technically this game is by mathematically genius's whose roots lie in the PC. Halo2 is a disaster on PC because its been done by third party programmers on an engine suited to Console. U3 engine is rooted to the PC just like cryteks and all the best 3d designers are PC programmers. Gears will look far superior on a PC there is no doubt but looking at it as a 360 port, i woulden't....

It was buggy, there we're messed up textures everywhere(the desert area especially), the character models don't hold a candle to Gears. From an artistic standpoint, I enjoy Gothic more, but from a technical one, hell no. Supcom again is more stressful on hardware because of the amount of units used and the fact they all have individual AI and physics, but when you zoom into the models, they are actually not very detailed(hence the usual toy/micromachine complaint), and the environments are very blah. Vanguard I havent played, so I cant comment on that.
PC enthusiasts are remarkably annoying. Gears is an incredible looking game, and now you are going to have it. No-one cares about whatever RTS has 400,000 units on screen at a single point in time. Its a small, tactical shooter with an amazing art direction. KirbyFan10101
Please, not all of us PC gamers are like that. I think I've made that clear on a few occasions. :D

I was a PC gamer for the previous generation, and I couldn't help but feel I was missing out. I'm going Wii60 this generation as the ultimate test of mettle. Quite frankly the smugness of PC gamers here is embarassing for all involved.
I could never stop my PC gaming. There's still a very different feel to a lot of PC exclusives that I would never get from a console. That being said , I love my 360, just as much as I've loved my ps2, my Genesis, my NES. I think console's and PC's co-exist great together, which is why I'm always so adamant in defending both sides when needed.
can someone give me a link where it says gears is coming to the pc anytime soon beside that youtube video which is kind of hard to believe.

Indeed. I've never been a big RTS fan, which has somewhat stunted my PC experience, as RTS has historically been "the" PC genre. I love shooters though, and well, theres no shortage of shooters in the PC world, especially with all the mods flying around.
It'll be interesting to see how things pan out, as my PC is offically too overworked to play anything brand new (I overlocked it to levels of insanity), so i'm offically out of the loop. Thankfully PC-X360 seem to be sharing quite a few games this time around.
Its far too early to make a judgement call, but gaming on consoles is certainly a difference experience. Why PC gaming is assumed to be the "superior" experience is beyond me.

BloatWare
It's made by Epic.
That really is all you need to know. Just like Bioware, all of their games make it to PC eventually.

...Half-Life 2 I do adore (Thx for sharing Orange Box with us by the way), but the graphics from GeoW blows HL2 out of the water! Unreal-Engine 3>>>>>>>>>>>Source IMO...
In my honest opinion the following games that i have played on my pc thatlook better than gears on 360 ( not too mention i play them all at 1680x1050 compared to 1280x720 (842400 more pixels):
Oblivion, Mods,lost planet 1680x1050,directx10
Call of Juarez , directx10
Stalker:shadow of chernobyl
ghost recon advanced warfighter 2
plus half life 2 episode one comes close, ofcourse there are more games (stratgey ones) that are technically better but anyway thats all i can think of off the top of my head.
Anyway Gears of war will look better on a high spec pc, end of.
Ok, I'm a hermit.
But I think GeoW looks great. And yes, I do agree it does take the breath away from a lot PC games. But I'm on 7600 GST, so it maybe my card.
But then again, it's an Epic game using UE3. I wouldn't be surprised if the PC version got a facelift. I mean, c'mon. Epic's trying to liscense out it's engine. It would only make sense they take it up a notch, and hopefully, through the roof.

Of course, Gears could be cleaned up and made better for the PC - especially in the area of textures. They are good, but not amazing or even great. I think that it is the MIX of textures that makes Gears great. No bland/clean hallways or areas. Everywhere you look, you see rubble, trash, a tile or two broken or skewed. If you look at an individual texture or tile, the detail in that could be made sharper/cleaner/etc. So YES Gears has a lot of room for improvement if it made its way to the PC.
Also, when you look at objects in the environments, they also could get a face-lift. Take any car or truck in the game. They look pretty bland and flat. Take most of the statues, same thing.
Does Gears look amazing? Yes. Could it be made better? Of course. Will PC gamers be excited about playing a 2 year old game when it finally makes its way to the PC? Now THAT is the real question...
