I agree both Killzone & Ryse look good (Ryse crowned graphic king) but they do indeed look generic.

It is, Killzone is terrible & it's only still alive because Sony try to keep pushing it as their flagship shooter

1 was a failed Halo killer, 2 was another failed Halo killer, 3 was a bomb & forgotten in a week

Gears is generic! KZ is generic. Both are shooters, both shoot guns. I prefer the guns in KZ though, more gun porn like.

I wouldn't say the new footage from KZ SF looks generic at all, they really have a beautiful artstyle going, the gameplay looks varied as well with multiple ways to tackle objectives and to move throughout the level. level design seems to have received a major boost.

Huge, huge step over the last 2 killzone games.

graphics look great, artstyle looks crappy, gameplay looks meh. killzone just doesnt do it for me and im willing to put up with a lot when it comes to fps games

Sounds like someone who'd be in the know. Still, I had more fun with KZ2 than any Gears title.

@mems_1224: gears was terrible. When I bought a 360,even though being a big ps fan, I wanted to see what I was missing and... Gears was so boring to me, I didn't even get passed the 2nd part.. When you're on a boat fighting some crap monsters. It was a borefest. Killzone was interesting.

When Gears of War first came out there were barely any cover based TPS around. It redefined the entire genre, it was more imitated than pretty much any other game last gen. That's not being generic thats being influential.

Gears more or less pioneered the whole "dude-bro TPS" thing. The original Gears was not generic when it first came out.

Better question when the F*ck did Ryse get crown Graphics King?. On topic I pretty sure Gears was also Generic also.

Seems like all FPSes and TPSes are "generic" nowadays. Atleast KZ SF is not a twitch-floaty shooter like the rest of them.

Neither series is generic unless you break them down to their simplest form.

Hell yeah Shadowfall looks generic. As soon as I saw the first video they showed for the PS4 I was rolling my eyes. On the other hand you have games like Titanfall and Destiny that actually look like they're trying to break from the mold.

Yeah, I don't need a dev to tell me RushZone looks generic. Its as generic as they come.

You gotta admit it though: third person shooters have far more gameplay capabilities than first person. Just look at Lost Planet and Vanquish. Compare that to Halo, COD, KZ.

Every single Cow ITT knows Killzone is generic. But, (to quote someone else), Cows are contractually obligated to care about Killzone.

Killzone series is one of the most generic shooter series of all time. Only behind Resistance.

Generic is the most meaningless term to label a video game. Applies for all games equally.
