Gears of War in 2006. SMG in 2007. Will Sony finally get a GOTY for 2008?

We'll have to see how MGS4 and LBP turn out. To be honest though, it looks like unless you release in November/December, you dont really get as much of a shot at game of the year, as people have had time to get past the hype and wonder and begin to nitpick.

Its only now, for example, that people are starting to see that COD4 is far from the perfect shooter is was made out to be before christmas.

I dont see any MGS winning GOTY as great as they are.

I will also debunk SSBB ... more of the same, only more complete, Halo 3 syndrome wont win GOTY.

It will be something Unique & Polished, like Mario Galaxy and Gears of War and World of Warcraft ... well ok not completely Unique but you get the picture.

lol... Resident Evil 5 is appearantly still concidered by most game news sites to be a 2008 title. Since its based off the LP engine, i've no doubt there well into making this game a 2008 title.
MGS4 probably has the best chance from what i've seen, there is no other game like it in the market. It serves as its own little niche in the gaming community.

Yup, it'll be a huge 2009 with GT5, FF13, RE5 and more.

A game published or made by a Sony dev. Gears of War was published by MS and exclusive at the time. SMG was published and developed by Nintendo. Now is it Sony's turn or will they be denied again?

Resident Evil 4 was released on January 11, 2005, and it won game of the year. It's mostly just because the good games get released before the holidays.
