Gears of War movie is going to be horrible

This is going to be the next Doom, film wise. Hell it stars the Rock as Marcus Fenix.

They shoulda just let the series have an awful story in the game department.

The way I see it is this.

Marcus not played by Clive Owen= insta fail.

watch them make it PG-13 to appease the film studios to get more cash from stupid teenagers like they did with Max Payne.

Hell, if it were PG-13, you wouldn't see any chainsaw action

I don't know about that. I think you doubt the talent of Christian Bale. He could probably put any movie on the top 250 on IMDB if you just filmed him the entire time.

Well, to be fair...Karl Urban played the "Doomguy" in the movie, but yeah...that movie still sucked and the Rock certainly didn't help it. Him being the main enemy at the end of the movie over Cyberdemon still makes me shudder. :?

I just don't get why they would make a gears movie over a halo movie.

OK Guys and Gals! And today, brought to you by II_Seraphim_II we have another round of bets! Place your bets and you could win it all! Which movie will suck more!?

In this corner we have Udo Kier and Til Schweiger recreating the PC classic, FARCRY! filled with cheesy lines, bad acting, excessive explosions, and random karate scenes, this movie seems like it shall be "the bomb" or rather it shall bomb! And lets not forget the man behind it, Uwe Boll!

And in the other corner weighing in at 800lbs of steroids and armor which for reasons unknown to man doesnt include a helmet, we have Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson landing the role of Marcus Fenix! (confirmation needed) This movie will literally cause the entire world to revaluate the definition of the word "suck." Not much is known but be sure to expect bleeding eyes at the theatres!

Personally i got $20 on FARCRY sucking more. Til Schweiger + Udo Keir + Uwe Boll, all in the same movie...I'm sure that's borderline illegal :?

1. GeOW had one of the most laughable stories, and some of the worst 2D cutout characters. If its that bad in a game imagine it on screen.

2. Is the gameplay going to make a transition? So for the film you get to see 'badass' marcus fenix hide behind a wall for two thirds of the time.

3. So what do you get? An hour and a half long action sequence, of most probably forgettable, poorly mashed together content. Ala DOOM.

And honestly I can see game movies like Halo fall under the same category, considering the games story-telling is an absolute mess, and it has some of the worst characters in any video highly vaunted game.

Though this is coming from someone who is only anticipating one 'tie in movie', Watchmen.... because its the Watchmen, even though there is a massive probability its going to be knowhereas good as its source material.

It being an Uwe Boll film was the nail in the coffin to begin with.

Mark my words, Video Game movies only have 2 possible savior:

WarCraft Movie or God of War Movie. If those 2 flop, I cant see any other IP, that we know of, having any sort of chance of redeeming VGMovies.

I knew the movie was gonna fail when i heard Udo Kier Til Schweiger and Uwe Boll were involved in the movie, but i said to myself "Hey man, u never know! For all u know he could make a good movie! I mean he cant suck forever...right?"

Then i saw the trailer...oh boy.....Obligatory martial arts scenes aside, the one clip in the trailer that made me know this movie was going to be a disaster of hiroshima/nagasaki proportions was when Til Schweiger was in bed with the girl and she says sumthing along the lines of "is that your gun" and he does this dumbass down syndrome braindead chuckle. After that i was like "wow...oh wow.....omfg wow....."

Yeah, it's pretty bad.

It could have at least been an enjoyable no-brainer sci-fi horror/action flick for Doom fans to enjoy had it remained faithful, but alas, it couldn't even manage that.

There are several video games that have the potential to be interesting movies. The problem is someone needs to helm them that is willing to put in the thought and time required to mix two mediums that call for different things to achieve excellence.

wouldn't mind Pixar / Dreamworks doing a Ratchet & Clank or a Jak & Dexter Movie, I guess both would be great filled with action and humour..

on Geow movie, if based on the game it doesnt require any real story or heavy dialague... just pure action backed by some great music & special effects... Also i agree putting 'The Rock' as Marcus Fenix... who knows put Brock Lesner as Baird and Jamal Duff as Cole.... :)

OT, but does anyone remember the Street Fighter movie with the guy from the Addams Family as M. Bison? Thinking about that still cracks me up.ANeuralPathway

That movie still brings me many lulz. It's so bad, but incredibly entertaining to watch with friends who are huge Street Fighter fans.

See now, why are you wanting death sentences to awesome games? No director can get it right I mean there was no hell in DOOM, you can't have DOOM without hell, pissed me off when I read it was some damn virus thing, I mean wth. Any director who wants to make a game to movie transition needs to be shot since that's what will happen to their **** films in the boxoffice.
