Also why do xbox live Demo downloads stop whenever I play a game? RedMarzBoy
Because XBL downloads use a peer-to-peer file transfer protocol that uses massive amounts of packet transfer. Playing online while downloading a file would likely result in tons of packet loss/lag.
Microsoft should put up standard FTP-transfer file servers instead of using that garbage imo. That MIGHT justify my $5 a month.

they should, but again p2p is free to them, thats one of the mains reasons i cant understand why they still charge for live.

OK I never though id say this, but i'm so spoiled with PSN then. I'm used to my downloads being ready by the time im done playing or doing whatever i am. Granted they do take longer, but im playing in the meantime.[QUOTE="Velocitas8"][QUOTE="RedMarzBoy"]Also why do xbox live Demo downloads stop whenever I play a game? RedMarzBoy

Hmmm, my friends are still playing GeoW and the online community is huge. MS has the triple threat on XBL with Halo 3, GeoW, and COD4.BioShockOwnzI was just online. Anyways I got live a day a ago so still need to get my buddies from school/work online tags. Maybe then it will be better, but i need to finish the fight first.
my bro said there was 500,000 people online in halo when he was playing earlier.... :shock:zero9167Yeah I wouldn't doubt it.8)
looks likke halo is killing third party games again like last generationdobbywii
I'm pretty sure gears is 2nd party.
Gears was the only game online that I think is easier than Halo. Noobs have another game that is easy to pick up and win at, so they are taking the bait.Vasichko
I disagree. a n00b can't just pick up a 360 controller and compete in Gears online.
Halo 3, while complex in ways, is much more of a casual friendly game. Mainly due to it being an FPS with tight controls.

Yeah, whenever I play Gears on a friend's 360 they absolutely slaughter me. Halo is also easier because it controls similarly to most other FPS's (to be fair, that's because most other FPSs are Halo ripoffs). Whereas Gears has a more unique control scheme.

Don't forget TF2 as well. XBL sales should sky rocket this holiday.
Thats because Gear's multiplayer sucked (IMO) and now that Halo3 is out people have a much better multiplayer shooter to play.laughingman42
Gears sucked in general, only thing good were the graphics. It was way overrated.

lmao.
link buddy, please. everything i've read about xbl indicates it is not a P2P network. they do use P2P for multi games, but i'm nearly 100% positive they use servers for content downloads. actually i am 100% positive.
P2P for content just wouldn't work especially without end-user consent. I monitor my 360 traffic and I NEVER see it silently hosting or uploading content when it idles, so i'm sorry - but you fail.

So we are all lieing when we say that you get like 3 games come out when you press on ranked, and warzone? Its dead.

chutup
QOTD
OK. I knew Halo 3 was going to be HUGE but still... :shock:There's like so few matches of Gears of War on any setting. Also why do xbox live Demo downloads stop whenever I play a game? RedMarzBoy
Meanwhile, Rainbow Six Vegas has barely taken a hit and the community is noticably better since most of the asshats have dashed to the idiot magnet that is Halo 3 (no offense to the majority of HL3 players but you know its true). Now if only people actually downloaded the map packs...

lmao "Halo rip offs"! You made my day!
Please give me one example of a "Halo rip off" and please don't say COD4 since they just took the menu system and if that's a rip off then you might as well say Halo ripped off PC/Sega for having online play..
GRAW better still be kicking. :xOhhSnap50893
Actually Graw 2 has taken a noticable hit since I couldn't find a single Deathmatch server that was 50% filled, but TDM modes are still alive and kicking.

or maybe its that gears controls are horrible for online play? IMO they are sluggish and unresponsive online. halo 3 has better online because of the controls and solely for that reason.

same thing happened when halo2 came out;give it afew weeks and people will start playing both games.

If it is p2p transfer then the more people downloading == more uploading, but why is it that when a great demo is realease, like bioshock, it downloads super slow. is it becuz torrents use different type of p2p. where everyone shares.is so MS need to used torrents to distrupute demos on live.
Halo 3's multiplayer is a lot better suited for networked play than Gears of War, which felt horrible a times. Of course, I have to figure this "Open NAT" problem out. Anyone know how to enable UPnP? Not sure if my router supports it.JLuke360
What type of router you got?
