I disagree. a n00b can't just pick up a 360 controller and compete in Gears online.

Halo 3, while complex in ways, is much more of a casual friendly game. Mainly due to it being an FPS with tight controls.

Gears online is completely broken. It's a shotgun riot - you just blast shotguns and hope that your connection has less latency and you get the kill. Don't even get me started about the host advantage in that game.
