Gears of War Remastered; Footage and Screens Leaked

First footage of the rumoured Gears of War remaster for Xbox One has come out via Xbox Live users ElitistPath05 and SpongyPlains6.

The game is said to be in development at Splash Damage, and will feature improved lighting, increased texture quality, and run at 60 frames per second. Multiple people reportedly had access to a test build last month. These videos were recorded on February 26, meaning they’re likely from an earlier build.

Played Gears of War back in 2007 with 1920x1200, max settings and 60fps, what is that point of the "remaster" now?

However if it was done on the unreal engine 4 with all the bells and whistles it will be nice, except from the fact that it will run on the xbon with 720p and 30fps LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

Is it just that level or is the entire game so fucking desaturated that it looks greyscale?

The original game emphasised dark atmosphere and is as "grey" as the remastered shots above. It being a remaster means it doesn't stray far from the original's look, gameplay etc.

I think the desaturation suits the game's setting. Just my 2cents.

Right. I've never played GoW. Even if it does fit the atmosphere, I don't like desaturation to that extent... I mean, the other two GoWs are more colorful, aren't they? Don't they have a similar atmosphere? I found GoW3 ti be beautiful looking.

They went into the pc options and turned 1080p on and sold the game for $69.

Yeah, GoW 2 is more brown while GoW 3 is a rainbow compared to the previous two. Judgement is even more vibrant and shiny. Having said that, I actually welcome this new look.

Like the Halo: MCC, I'll probably pick this up since I never played any of the games the first time around (yes I know this is just the first game).

Its weird, it doesn't feel that long ago since gears of war came out. Kinda makes me question if we are witnessing a genuine movement in HD remakes of "last seasons" titles.

These would have to be pretty old builds, most likely it will look different.

Can someone do a comparison against the PC version at 1080p?

What is MS trying to do? i am curious because i see both MS and SONY only rehashing old games for there new consoles.

I'll probably buy an XBONE for this just because the multiplayer was crack for me in the 360 days.

GeoW remaster is inevitable. But I've no interest in returning, and I'll be damned if I bleed money for anything relating to GeoW 2.

No , the sequels did not have a similar atmosphere, the story became more campy and light just like the color palette. The first supposed to be "dark" , gritty and depressing. See Mad World trailer.

XBONE has no killer apps yet this entire gen (Fingers crossed Halo5?), and they're still concentrating on Remakes/Remasters? lol.

No kidding. I was late to the party with 360 since I went PS3 first, and I couldn't believe Gears was a game that got hyped and sold so much. The first games I bought for 360 were the Gears Triple Pack (1+2 and DLC) and Gears 3. Boy was the 1st Gears disappointing. The 2nd and 3rd obviously held up a little better, but still not exactly something I would want to revisit. The 1st one did not age well at all.

You can pretty much say that about any remastered game. There's an audience of people that want to play them again and that have never played them before.

I was already burn'y out on the series by Gears 3, it's just so shallow and repetitive.

So... it's better to have a remaster of a 2 year old game?

Yup. XBONE still needs its first true must have system seller, and a remaster certainly isn't going to be one.

I liked the 1st games and playing Horde with friends. The 3rd game made me laugh when Rico was about to shed a tear...

Loved the game when it came out, but I have no desire to buy a remaster. Some games just don't warrant a double dip.

you'd buy a $500 /errr $400 err// $350 console for 1 game.? a game that is 7 years old no less? Seems kind of irresponsible unless you are filthy rich.

I'd never waste my money on a console for 1 or hell 5 games unless I knew there was reason enough to believe that it would have a steady stream of games in genre's I like. This goes even more so if I already owned a console who had the best tech of consoles with 3rd party advantage and will have a stream of 1st party support.

As for geow.... I hated I played this in 1920 x 1200 on PC back in 2007 and hated the game. It's visuals were horrid and the character design of big oafs with speakers on their chests was just bad. I hated unreal tournament 3 for this reason too (it recycled gears of war art style and models...ewww).

Never did see how this game got people excited. I only played it on pc to see what the fuss was about. (same with halo 2... and that game was even worse than gears. Played so many better fps games on PC at the time than that boring game) I guess if you only had an xbox you didn't know any better?

You heard it here folks, someone played Gears of War back in 2007 on max settings and thought the "visuals were horrid". Compared to what? in 2007 game characters were still bricks. Conclusion, you're full of shit. Anyone who played Gears in 2007 would know that the visuals were amazing, not so much now but then, yes.

Sony has done The LAst of us, and will have Gow 3.... that's it from 1st party remakes.
MS has halo 1,2,3,4, (odst , reach from last i heard to be there too) and geow1..

Ok, yeah ms is doing that, but sony only has 2 games remastered/reamaid the rest are 3rd party. And 1st party non remakes, on sony side had bloodborne, infamous second son, killzone sf, driveclub, the order, knack, until dawn, and indies..

while ms has had (non remakes) for 1st party - sunset overdrive, killer instinct pay2play, forza 5 and forza horizon 2.

MS- 5 remakes (possibly 7 total remakes if odst and reach are true) - 1 new ip and 3 new games in existing franchises for 1st party

Sony - 2 remakes, 5 new ip and 2 new games in existing franchises from 1st party

So on the microsoft side you are correct... sony not so much.

Compared to just about everything on PC (and a few games on PS3 at the time) it was terrible. I would rate

Crysis, Stalker, Half-life 2, Bioshock, rainbow six vegas, fear, MGS4, Uncharted and Heavenly Sword as better looking games, and games with real proportioned people.

The only thing back then that looked like bricks were unreal engine characters from gears of war or unreal tournament... walking bricks with speakers on their chest armor...

Pop in a quarter and you can jam while you fight... uuu raaah...
