Gears of War series

I had the first GOW upon release & didn''t really like it very much so I traded it in. I recently finished ME2 & Bioshock2 & needed a game to tide me over until 3/9 & FF13. GOW 1 was priced at $10 & GOW2 & $20, so I thought, maybe I missed omething the first time & the price is right so I picked them both up. All I can say is ??????????????????????????. How did this series get so popular? Cliffy B is revered for THIS? What a load of tripe this series is. It was actually so bad that I tried both for an hour, but ended up driving back to the gamestop that night to trade them back in? Why, why, why when there are so many shooters out would you settle for this? WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?

I loved it and still love it. no other shooter does for me like gears does. but hey one man chocolate ice cream is another man's lumpy dog mess.

The cover system. How often did you see games with cover sytems before Gears of War. ANd Gears of War pretty much kick started the whole co-op renaissance. vashkey

Most games have cheesy characters. Kinda like Resident Evil. But thats a poor excuse to say a game is bad.

How are the controls spotty?

The graphics aren't in black and white.

IMHO i think both gears suck... you play as some overly steroid human growth hormone taking guy and just looks dumb it feels like im playing killzone for the xbox, good graphics but crappy story and just gets uninteresting the longer u play it. alot of my friends like geow idk whats so good about it, it just looks really nice and has decent online

ill stick to my halo 3 for xbox live instead ;)

The game doesn't try and wow you with "innovative" new ideas, nor does it try and redefine what an action game is. It's a big, dumb, gory shooting game. Scratch that. It's the best big, dumb, gory shooting game.

The cover system was done well and it is a blast in co-op, that was enough for me to have fun.

I'm not looking for a narrative masterpiece here it's videogaming lighten up or spend the rest of your life being unhappy with stuff, it's your call.

Hugely overrated series imo,but if 3rd person shooters are your thing then it probably doesn't get any better.

What did you expect? Personally I love both of them but prefer GeoW 2.

i always get a kick out of seeing people bag on gears of war and then looking at the games their avatars are from

Gears 2 is my favorite game this gen. Split-screen multiplayer with bots is a blast, and the campaign is epic. Hoard mode is awesome as well. I can't wait for Gears 3, but I hope Epic takes their time with it. They better bring back the bots again :twisted:

Exactly how long do you have to play a game to know that it blows? I thought I was being gracious by giving it an hour & then actually doing the same w/ the second one. So, when you say that you don't like a game, that means you played the whole thing? Of a game you hated the whole way through? Wow, THAT'S a glutton for punishment

I bought the first one and it killed me fast, it wasn't so easy. Then I tried the second, finished it, it was awesome. I picked the first up much later and it is probably my 2nd fav for this gen(fable 2 is number 1

gears is awesome.

Gears the series is amazing,,and can't wait for part 3 to come out someday :)

I dislike Gears, probably more than most people.

However, it did do some good for the third person shooter genre. Whether or not it created them, it was a very popular game so therefore, other people are going to try and copy the same elements.

Like the two before it and likely even more so....

As far as TPS are concerned, the first PS Syphon Filter game was more groundbreaking than Gears of War.

Gears of war is one of the best 360 games.
