How the hell did GoW was so loved? I have tried the PC version and it's highly overated.
8.5 at best!

You may have gone in wanting to hate it in which case your mind was already made up. My question is: Why would you buy a game that you suspect you may not like? That's like me buying Final Fantasy and then screaming foul because I didn't like it. I know I don't like JRPGs so you know what I do? I DONT BUY OR PLAY THEM.

Who said I bought it?
I love action games, but Gears is a clone of Winback but with better graphics. Nothing new and nothing so interesting.
It's not World in Conflict, it's not The Witcher and it's not Crysis...
I have played better games so I don't understand the fuzz about it.

If you want a game to be highly regarded just turn the presentation notch up and market and hype the hell out of it.
That's how it works for any media.

Not eveyrone can like it's complexity. Still, IMO the best game ever.
I prefer the original to the N64 version; the N64 one was great too, but March of the Black Queen just felt better put together (although the graphics could've used tweaking ;)).
You know, I feel mixed about the game. Yes it has a great cover system, gameplay, and graphics but I feel mixed about the score and I think it should of gotten a low AAA or high AA imo.

[QUOTE="Dreams-Visions"]Gears of War stood the test of time. It's still regularly in my rotation and most people on my friends list. SkullboyXGears if funner on Live.
the PC version is also through live.....which every PC gamer hates with a fiery passion, even if its actually cheaper than on the 360.

Let's be honest; the game's qualityis just as subjective as any other. I absolutely loved it, and thought it was one of the first true "next-gen" games on the consoles, but if you're not into shooters, or don't find the cover system particularly compelling, or are really into complex storylines, etc., I can see how you wouldn't like it. RTS junkies worship Starcraft as one of the greatest games ever, while I have no interest in it. Hell, I don't really like Counterstrike, which many people would argue is one of the best examples of an online FPS. I think the fact that so many people on this forum call Gears overrated and yet still admit they'd give it an 8.5 or 9.0 is a testament to its greatness; even the detractors respect it.

I completely understand what you are saying, BUT....
I keep going back to that game, it is very replayable, even on single player. I think everyone agrees that the game has amazing graphics, but I think I keep going back because of the mood of the game, there is something compelling about it.
As for its flaws, there are many, I get constantly frustrated at the control system in the game, for me it feels very restrictive, not to mention that at times the game feels quite repetitive and dare I say it... short.
On the other hand, the game has ambition, did I mention that the graphics are amazing ( I think I did :) ) , the production values are stellar and it is a great deal of fun to play.
Did it deserve its score, hmmm, yes, it is a must play game, I think that is enough to justify it. Maybe its a sign that game reviews of the future are going to become less technical and more emotional.
Ummm, I thought it was really good. Amazing graphics, great gameplay, super good story, intriguing campaign, easy controls, and superb multiplayer. What more can you want???
The PC versions are always inferior to the Console versions nowadays. The best thing to do is hope some cool mods or something come out.wok7
of course, becacuse it cant actually do HD.....
while games like COD4, and Halo 3...are actually super HD, their even more high res then movie screens...thats how awsome they are.

The game is a year old... IT was great in its time. Dont come on here crying about a game that got AAA everywhere and expect people to actually care about your opion. Hermits think there *&%* dont stink and most people on these boards dont give a &*%$ about there opions.
i like gears, its controls are tight and the single player is a lot of fun. I do have complaints tho: 1) Lack of weapons 2) Online play- when it first came out it seemed fine but after a few months, the lag and host advantage became disguisting. If gears can fix that problem with the sequel it would rule. Def worthy of a 9.6, it was amazing then, and still now. Unfortunatley, the online lag ruins the experience considerablygander448
I think if they can find some way to expand the number of players in a match next game (let's say to 6 on 6), and/or add in some online gametypes like capture the flag (just an example, as I'm not 100% sure how well that would work), it'll be bigger than Halo.
