I wouldn't say smarter. I think the average PC gamer would generally know more about PCs and they way those types of games work, which in comparison to a simple console, seems like it would require a higher intellectual commitment.

Society pins a nerdy, smart image on computer elites, imo someone proficient with a computer is due to experience and knowledge, no different than someone who knows about a car, or some other area. It doesn't mean that they are generally smart. It depends on the subject.

Blue-Sky

True, but not everyone who has those skills chooses to be a PC gamer. I've been putting together my own PCs since 1994 and have a degree in Computer Tech. from Purdue, and yet I choose to game on consoles. I still have a PC for exclusives, but when I have the choice, it's 360 or PS3.

After I spend all day bludgeoning Oracle into doing what I want, it's nice to come home and turn the gray matter down a couple notches.

It's more to do with ignorance than intelligence, maybe even knowledge but definitely not intelligence in most cases.

PC gamers could be very arrogant sometimes howvever, unless I have just seen fanboys from my standpoint.

Explain Gears then. Gears is highly competative, but as a payoff, trashtalking is an abundance with the XBL community on Gears, (and some racism to go along).

Pretty sure this one goes to the PC gamers. It takes a lot of skill to get a game running smoothly for a playable amount of time.

Good God, PC gamers. I've meet people on Halo 3 who didn't know how to crouch.

I'm serious.

Wow. Been looking at your poll and its completely flop sided anyway I voted for the console and the reason is simple you see since console gaming is better anyone that owns a console is smarter in this case. Now you know. PC gamers maybe more book smart but there are different levels of smart out there.

Fanboy much?

It was just an example but on the serious side just because someone is more book smart than someone it doesn't mean that they have as much common sense.

Id rather be the Kid on the bottem than the kid on top.The one of the top looks a tad to much into gaming.Though pc gamers are probably smarter in a way.

Smarter? Who knows. They are certainly less fickle though. Pure console gamers always complain about having to learn about PC components as something that puts them off PC gaming. Though the argument could be made that people that are unwilling to learn something as relatively simple as assembling a PC are also unwilling to learn other things (and thus are dumber as a result).

play a game of CounterStrike and compare to a game of Halo 3.Hewkii

CS has screaming college guys, and Halo has screaming 10 year olds. I think its obvious which is worse.

Plus I actually find alot of people on CS are hilarious. Half the time when I play that game I just start chatting to people.

Screaming 10 year olds vs Screaming college guys- Well, you would think that the college guy is smarter because...he's in college. It's normal for kids the scream...it's what they do.Ten year olds are young and immature so them screaming is nothing out of the ordinary, and doesn't make them dumb.By the time your in college most will expect you to have some level of maturity, and no one will take a screaming college guy seriously...especially if it's over something as silly as a video game.So..simply put the two have different standards.

PC gamers vs Console gamers- That's like asking which is smarter...black people or white people. PC gamers and Console gamers are no different. Both are human (well most) and both are gamers. I don't believe anymore has to be said on this.

:] So my point is that it's a very very stupid argument.

CS is pretty hilarious. people play more music and do funny stuff, but sometimes I actually like listening to little kids in Halo 3 acting like... kids (or COD4 now I guess)

anyways, PC gaming requires more knowledge such as knowing the parts and all, but other than that, it's pretty much up in the air. i can only wonder what the handheld gamer is like...

I'm tempted to say so after comparing the arguments of most console fanboys to hermits, comparing PC games to console games (as RobbieH1234 said) and after seeing the huge amount of consolites who don't even bother reading through threads to post their BS, but for now I won't say that being around a console makes you stupid by nature, or being around a PC automatically makes you smart.

Since most PC gamers seem to be older than the Halo 3/COD4 little kids, I'd say yes.
