Xbox exclusives doesn't really score over an 8.0 with user scores on metacritic with the exception of Forza(which won't be exclusive anymore). It's hard to find games over a 7.9 in general where else as with PS it's a dime in dozen. User score [in a way] are more accurate than metascore because the simple size is bigger.

  • Sunset Overdrive - 7.7
  • Forza 6 - 8.2
  • Halo 5 - 6.6
  • Halo MCC - 7.3
  • Rare Replay - 7.7

Even going back to 360.

  • Gears of War 3 - 7.7
  • Forza 4 - 8.1
  • Halo 3 - 7.8
  • Halo Reach - 7.9
  • Gears of War 2 - 7.7

Comparing to PS4

  • Bloodborne - 8.5
  • The Last of Us R - 8.9
  • Until Dawn - 8.1
  • Ratchet and Clank - 8.7

and PS3

  • Uncharted 2 - 8.8
  • The Last of Us - 9.1
  • MGS4 - 8.7
  • God of War 3 - 8.7
  • Uncharted 3 - 8.3
  • Uncharted - 8.1
  • Little Big Planet 2 - 8.3
  • Killzone 2 - 8.1

For good measures, Nintendo Wii U

  • Smash Bros - 9.0
  • Mario 3D World - 9.0
  • Bayonetta 2 - 9.2
  • Zelda WW HD - 9.0
  • Zelda TP HD - 8.8
  • Splatoon - 8.6
  • Mario Maker - 8.8
  • Mario Kart 8 - 9.1

Are Xbox exclusives just not as good? This question is for multi-console owners only, obviously. Personally, I think that's a fair assessment. What about you folks?

No one's not gonna argue the Wii U exclusive games gives you more for your hard earn money, same way I look at it for PS4 exclusive games as well. Same could be said for 3DS as well but the 3DS beats the Wii U when it comes to games. As for Xbox games, I can't remember the last time I ever saw any games beside Halo Combat Evolve getting any higher scores but I will say this, Rare Replay was the only exclusive game I really enjoy and my most played X1 game but the rest, not so much.

Metacritic user scores are so ripe with abuse that I don't really give them much credibility. They to match critic's scores more closely this generation though.

@Legend002: I never trust reviews in that regard. For one thing, I enjoyed Gears of War alot more than Last of Us and Ratchet and Clank. I hated Twilight Princess too along with Mario 3D World. To me thinking back at 360, I never played a bad exclusive. Loved Halo 3, Reach and 4 thoroughly and have great memories playing Gears of War and Alan Wake.

It's all just preference. I did really enjoy Bayonetta 2 and Supersmash so I can't hate on Nintendo. Nintendo is always fun for quick pick-me-ups. But I love 1st person shooters and serious adventure games more.

Must explain why they generally get more play time than Playstation games do. In fact it's so bad that even on Amazon Xbox One version games get user reviews from Playstation fans that even identiy themselves as Playstation fans. Most notable example being MGSV, PS4 fans were so salty about the game being multiplatform.

They spend more time writing false reviews than playing the PS4, really just shows you why the PS4 game line is the weakest of them all. Thanks for making this clear to everyone.

LOL you don't say, why don't you give us proof of such a thing then. I have never come across false reviews in my life. Even when honest reviewers such as Angry Joe reviews a Xbox game such as Quantum Break and Halo 5, he was spot on and he's an honest reviewer, especially when he shows you clips of what's wrong with the game to back up his claims, that's what makes him a better reviewer.

Metacritic user scores is like asking a child about his impressions of Mozart, except the child is usually more mature.

Halo has really been subject to the wrath of Playstation fans. Halo 3 single handedly made the PS3 look like a complete joke for the entire 7th gen and induced more salt and tears in that fanbase than any other game in history. Being helpless and unable to do anything meaningfull the Playstation fanbase in a last ditch effort took to user reviews.

In fact it was so bad that Playstation fans were hyping Haze....HAZE of all games to be a Halo 3 killer.

The 7th gen was truly dark for the Playstation fanbase.

Another alt. If 85 million plus sold and more GOTY winners than any other platform was dark for the PlayStation fan base I wonder what we should call the 8th gen for lems because it might not even hit 40 million and has no exclusives.

Wii U definitely has the best exclusives- and while Xbox may have the weakest ones (this is a position I openly endorse), I do want to point out that in the current market situation, exclusives and exclusivity sadly do not count for much.

So it really doesn't matter if Xbox has the weakest exclusives (which I think it does)- exclusives count for little in the current market setup in the overall scheme of things.

@Legend002: The problem for me is that Xbox exclusives are usually not very varied. They rely on two or three flag franchises and forget about diversifying their offering. People become bored if you only offer them the same stuff over and over. That's basically milking the franchises but also milking the game mechanics. I mean just look at the lists, the PS4 hasn't had so many exclusives either but in its list there's almost more variety than in the lists for both xbox consoles.

PC and Wii U are the only gems of this generation.

The PS4/Xb1 are just cheap pre-built PCs with barely any unique qualities to them.

Popularity does not always mean quality... the are both just cloned dude bro consoles.

Yes they are. That's why PS4 is kicking Xbone's ass in sales and Sony consistently pumps out GOTY worthy games every year while M$ hasn't released a game that won a GOTY award in forever. I believe Gears 1 was the last.

Games like Gears 4 aren't meant to look or play well, their main intention is to satisfy the fetish for burly men that you find within the Xbone community, while promoting a bromosexual lifestyle.

I've enjoyed gears of war, fable, halo, dead rising, dead rising 3 and sunset overdrive more than any of the playstation exclusives without exception. It really is personal taste, playstation titles tend to be more story oriented xbox tends to be more gameplay oriented.

I would say in general, exclusives outside of Nintendo are less enjoyable. TitanFall and Sunset Overdrive (Fantasia and Zoo Tycoon to a lessor extent)are the only non Nintendo exclusives that I've had immense fun with, or have look interesting enough across all platforms this generation (Xbox One, WiiU owner). Last generation, I only really enjoyed Demon's Souls, Valkyria Chronicles, and MGS4 (PS3, Wii owner).

Most of my entertainment has come in the form of multiplats, this generation and last.

Sidenote: I'll Redbox Quantum Break, and wait for Ori to be free with GWG; both look interesting, just not enough for me to buy them.

This all falls apart solely on the fact you're using Metacritic as the basis for user ratings, which aren't reliable for any game whatsoever. People give 0s and 10s for the absolute dumbest reasons.

From a personal standpoint, Sony and Microsoft exclusives have been equally underwhelming. Even though the Wii-U is a failure, it has a stronger exclusive library than the other two systems could ever hope to achieve.

So what definition of exclusives are we using? That will depend on the context of the discussion, and that's the beauty of it. Calling Street Fighter V a PS4 exclusive in context of a PS4 vs Xbox One discussion is perfectly acceptable, as is calling ReCore an Xbox One exclusive. Discussing the value of soft exclusives like these in the context of the larger market is a discussion that is now welcomed,

We can abide by the rules at hand, therefore since TLOUR is void on X1 it's a console exclusive as per SW's rules.

It doesn't need to be groundbreakingly different. Smash for Wii U is not much different than Brawl, yet nobody would argue that it's the same game as Brawl.

Of course Smash for Wii U and 3DS are pretty much the same thing, but they are different versions of the game thing. The content between the two games is measurably different.

I go by reality, not SW ridiculousness.

@GreySeal9: Exclusives are games you can't buy on other consoles. You can't buy Last of Us Remastered on PS3 or Vita. The remastered version is not the same as the original. It runs at a steady 60 fps, native 1080p resolution, and comes with the DLC.

Masterchief collection has only Halo 2 on Xbox One graphics while the others are carbon copies of 360 games with no enhancement. Aside from the graphic change, Halo Anniversary 2 is the EXACT same game as the original too.

Metacritic user scores? Really lol?

Yeah, a collection of user "reviews" from people that aren't verified to own or have even played the game, seems legit.

You are being highly disingenuous.

The two versions of Pokemon are basically identical whereas the two versions of Smash have different stages and different modes. Having the same mechanics does not make two games the same. As I said, Brawl and Smash Wii U have the same basic mechanics (with a few subtle differences), but they are not the same game.

Also, no version of the game is called Smash 4. The 3DS version is called Super Smash Bros. for 3DS while the Wii U version is called Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.

Yes it is. It's a remastered version of the game. RR and MCC are port collections.

Please don't embarrass yourself.

A remaster is not an exclusive. Never has been, never will be.

Not to mention that the MCC has a completely remade version of Halo 2, which has more drastic changes that TLOUR.

Not according to sticky:

Q: Has the definition of 'exclusive' changed?

So what definition of exclusives are we using? That will depend on the context of the discussion, and that's the beauty of it. Calling Street Fighter V a PS4 exclusive in context of a PS4 vs Xbox One discussion is perfectly acceptable, as is calling ReCore an Xbox One exclusive. Discussing the value of soft exclusives like these in the context of the larger market is a discussion that is now welcomed,

We can abide by the rules at hand, therefore since TLOUR is void on X1 it's a console exclusive as per SW's rules.

I'm using the definition of exclusive that actually makes sense: a game that can only be played on one platform.

I go by reality, not SW ridiculousness.

Well according to our forum, they can be called exclusives:

so he wasn't wrong listing those games in the context of the rules set upon us by mods, GS and admins :D

User scores and Metacritic: For those who'd like to see what cancer reads like.

Again, I don't acknowledge SW ridiculousness as being anything close to reality.

Try convincing someone outside of SW that a polished up version of TLOU is a completely different game than the original and watch them look at you like you're an idiot.

Then you try to tell a person outside of SW's that since TLOU is on PS3, it shouldn't be considered a game for PS4. or even a positive for the platform since its not on X1. Get those same looks I imagine.

But anyways, in your case then the TLOU is a verified top 5 GOAT and 2nd new IP in a row from Naughty Dog. Awesome!
