Genres you want to like but can't get into?

I have always wanted to like the SRPG genre but I've never liked the games for some reason. I think the battles takes to much time to finish and they are to linear even compared to JRPGs.

I have tried:

Final Fantasy Tactics (PSP)
Luminous Arc (DS)
Front Mission (DS)
Kartia (PS1)

I can't seem to get into this sub-genre.

It's strange actually. I like every RPG from Fallout to Morrowind to Final Fantasy to Persona. I also really like strategy games like Civilization and Europa Universalis so it's strange that I don't like the SRPG genre when it combines my other favourite genres.


What about you? What genre or sub-genre do you have a hard time getting into?

Sports and car games..

Turn Based RPG'S, I'm gonna take my last chances on FF13

RTS's

Sports

I guess Sports, specifically Soccer and Golf.

Also the Wii series games like Wii Music, Wii Play, Wii Fit, Wii Resort...I think they aren't good, but what do I know, people buy 'em.

Turn-based RPG's

Horror games.

Played halfway of doom 3, quit, told myself I needed a few years to mature.

Tried Cryostasis earlier this year, weaselled out.

Last RPG I played was Mass Effect. After that I just couldn`t get into genre anymore. I guess that`s because I have too little free time.

Also, RTS. I used to play Age of Empire 2, Stronghold and Starcraft for MONTHS, but now... Dunno, just can`t get into them again.

RPG's. I know there are a lot of great ones out there but they just don't appeal to me.

Well there are quite a few, but first and foremost I would say is the civilization series. Turn based games being my favorite I never know why I didn't liked any of the Civilization games. I have fund understanding how to do stuff in them, but once I get the hang of things, every thing seems very simple and I get bored of it. I still buy every civilization game hoping I like at least this one :)

genre wise : JRPGs

RTS games.I like the concept, but controlling all of those units after awhile drives me nuts.

Same here, although i did quite enjoy the Valkryia Chronicles demo. I also cant get into life simulation games (is that even a genre?) like the sims.-DrRobotnik-

Sim Racers
Puzzle Games (I simply could not get into Crush or Puzzle Quest)
FPSs are rather hit or miss with me
Sports titles

Zelda games, i just dont understand the draw. i played one once nearly fell into a coma from boredom

I've tried to get into Left 4 Dead, Street Fighter 4 and "art" games so the people here wouldn't harass me, didn't work out with any of them...=P

I have so far been unable to get into the RTS genre, which is a shame as there is such a large selection of those games out there.

RTS and Fighting games. I'm not that bad at RTS, I just flip when it starts to lag and there's loads of units on screen. Fighting games require good brain reflexes and memory, both of which I fail at badly.

Mass Effect (The game was terrible imo)

Thats also odd, because I love RPGs.

Genre: I gues it would be sandbox games like GTA IV and No More Heroes

And Guitar Hero is getting milked( 3 different games last year, what the heck).

I wish I could be one of the many anticipating StarCraft II, but instead I'm not. My hyped game is Assassins Creed II.

I take it you've tried playing them? They are just mindless fun, easy to get into, don't require much of an investment. They are basically glorified puzzle games, but that's why they are fun.

It's Turn-Based Strategy for me too. I got about 1/3 of the way through Jeanne D'arc before losing interest. I could barely start War of the Lions before just being overwhelmed by the amount of stuff you have to keep track of, but that didn't stop me from buying Tactics Advance 1 & 2, both of which I have yet to play. Bought both DS Advance Wars, barely started Dual Strike, haven't started Days of Ruin. I even downloaded both Shining Force games on Virtual Console, the first of which I stopped playing before reaching the first fight, and the second after losing the first fight multiple times. I still have hope for Disgaea PSP. Though I only played it once several months ago and have yet to go back, it's still infinitely more accessible than War of the Lions. I also have faith in Valkyria Chronicles. I've only put my copy in my PS3 to get the install over with, but I plan to play it soon. Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon is being shipped to me as I type, I have high hopes for that game as well. I refuse to give up on Turn-Based Strategy games. Many of my favorite gamesof all timeare JRPGs, so I feel it's only a matter of time before I'm able to make the transition into this subgenre.

Sport game and fighting games.

rts'es. so many friends that wants to LAN those games with me, but I just cant find them any fun

For me it would have to be:

MMORPG - I just can't get into them. I've tried many, many times.

Racing Simulations - I think Gran Turismo is an amazing series, but I just haven't really gotten into it.

REAL Sports Titles - I can play Wii Sports and I can play any of the quirky, non-realistic sports titles. However, I can't play any realistic sports title. Maybe it's because I don't actually care for sports?
