I can't believe no one said music/rhythm genre. I can get into mainly every genre but that. I don't see the appeal to Guitar Hero, Rock Band, etc.

And Guitar Hero is getting milked( 3 different games last year, what the heck).

I take it you've tried playing them? They are just mindless fun, easy to get into, don't require much of an investment. They are basically glorified puzzle games, but that's why they are fun.

I still don't have much interest in it, and isn't it best played with friends?

Stealth games. I've tried and tried to like games like Splinter Cell and MGS but simply don't possess the patience for them.

Wester RPG's

Their stories are normally a lot better than JRPG's and I love how you build your character from scratch and make them say what you want. But I don't like the real-time battles and the weapons/abilities aren't much fun.

Meh, not really. I would give it a shot if you havn't already. It's a great way to absorb time when bored.

RTS, but I can't say I can't get into them because I have never tried them. I guess I have always been intimidated and that's why I have never tried one. I always had the impression that it was to much work to be fun and I don't like games that aren't fun. I have seriously been considering getting Red Alert 3 as my first RTS game. Just not sure if I want it for PC or PS3.

I want to like the FPS genre but I get motion sickness everytime I play an FPS game, its quite bad sickness actually. Tried playing FPS games from early PS2 days, I get 10 mins in and start feeling dizzy, I can prob over come it if I actually go out and buy an FPS instead of relying on demos. Forcing myself to play it for hours should cure me of motion sickness but you know what, I really cant be bothered with FPS games and rather stick to the other genres I like :D

WRPGs definitely.

I love almost all RPGs, and when I hear people saying great things about games like Fable, KOTOR, Mass Effect, etc, I can't help but want to get in on that fun. But no matter what, they always bore me eventually.

When I played Fallout 3, I played it roughly at the same time as Persona 4. I tried to enjoy it, but no matter what, I kept getting drawn back to the actually compelling characters in Persona 4. The characters in Fallout 3 were just too flat.

***warning, rest of post contains partial spoilers from Mass Effect and Persona 3. I'm pretty sure anyone who cares has already played them, but just in case.***

Same issue when Fable 2 was released. Could not stand it after 7 or so hours in, the artificial morality system just didn't do it for me. I tried to enjoy Mass Effect as well, ironically, I recently bought Persona 3: FES and was rendered incapable of enjoying Mass Effect. I'm going to be honest, I couldn't give a damn about killing Wrex or leaving Kaidan to die. Now Mitsuru's backstory? That was something that really got to me. The main character's "death"? That left me stunned for days. Hell, even Junpei was a more likable character than the majority of Mass Effect's cast.

It's a shame really, I hear people talking about how awesome WRPGs are, but I simpy cannot get interested in the genre. Maybe I'm playing the wrong WRPGs? Maybe it's because I value story and characters over gameplay in my RPGs? (yeah, I think the stories in JRPGs are better than WRPGs)Idon't know, but for the time being, JRPGs are the ones that continue to grasp my attention.
