Actually the first pic probably is really in game. Though all they did is pic the best spot to show off the game. People criticize killzone 2 for having not so great textures, but on most occasions, you're looking at the textures very close up. If you were took look at GeoW2 textures really close up, they'd probably be on par. Just look at the textures on the bottom left of the first screenshotmunu9
May I ask that you actually read the content of my post before you comment? No, the first pic is not probably in game. There is no possibility, I repeat, no possibility that this game has that much anti-aliasing because NO Xbox 360 game has that much anti-aliasing. Interestingly, the other screens show anti-aliasing. There goes that theory. It's touched up. Deal with it.

Having beaten both, MGS4 looks better. Gears 2 looks better in screenshots, though. But it's like comparing Crysis (smooth) to Cryoastasis (mess).

Dude, TC what are you on? Do you even own gears or a HDTV?

Go get a copy of Gears 2 or a Xbo360 you fakeboy, plug it into your HDTV and play through the campaign. Then come back and try to make this ridiculous thread.

Ironic how you complain about bullshots but seems that you don't complain with uncharted 2 bullshots ;)

you realize that every screenshot for games out there are touched up right? they take out the jaggies just to polish up the picture. So if you're trying to point out that screenshots contain more AA than in game play, you're right, but same goes for every game out there.

BUT posting up really ugly Gears 2 screens is a bit far fetched because the game do look very close to the best screenshots out there and unless you play the game while staying zoomed in to check out texture details, you will get the level of graphic fidelity of those advertisements (minus the high AA)

You want me to complain about all bullshots, or something? Yeah, those are probably bullshots. Happy now?

Here's my question, mate. Why am I the one that needs a reality check when you can observe the fanboys in this thread ALL trying to say the game looks like the first screen in REAL TIME gameplay running on their massive 1080p TVs? Are you serious? You can at least make the admission that the screen has been touched up for AA, but why can't everyone? Seriously, it's obvious.

well thats easy to explain. You whole approach was flame bait.

If you're trying to show that AA on screenshots is bull, you should have incoporated bullshots for a variety of games. Only focusing on gears 2 make you out to be a Gears 2 graphics basher. Why not use bullshots from MGS4 and Uncharted and Lost Odyssey, etc.

Also, when ever anyone use out rageously bad screenshots, the threads gonna turn into auto flame war... you should have been prepared and yeh, you kinda led everyone down the wrong track.

That's very interesting that the entire batch of real screens are "outrageously bad" screenshots. I ask you to pick your own. Just be prepared to acknowledge which ones are real and which ones are fake. The approach wasn't flamebait, that's a garbage excuse. You're trying to cover for these people, the guys that will eat any crap up, accept any excuse, deny everything, and claim that it's the best-looking game ever. Why SHOULD I use bullshots for any other game? Move your eyes up to the topic line. What does it say? What does it say, tell me. I want to know. I'm blind. I wrote it, you say? Oh, how interesting. Okay, so I wrote that and I simultaneously intended this thread to deal solely with that title. Incredible. If you want a simple answer, nobody was asking for a beatdown on Uncharted, MGS4, or LO.

People are asking for a beatdown on GEOW2 in this VERY thread. There's your explanation. If it weren't for the fanboys all through this thread claiming it looks like the bullshot, ALL of them, as though there were a consensus on this complete falsehood, I might not be able to justify this thread as easily as I can. By the way, browse around. I've already gotten down on my knees and made an attempt to please you folks who are whining so hard I can hear it through my computer monitor by addressing MGS4 AND Uncharted, in this very thread, despite the obvious fact that it has nothing to do with either game.

Here's the deal: I already did what I could. I made every concession I could. If you want to make a thread on those, fine. But I'm not going to make an OP filled with screenshot spam or I'm just going to get moderated for flooding. Period.

Um, in motion, the game looks similar to the first picture you posted. Gears of War 2 is currently the best looking game out. It's going to be edged out by Killzone 2 soon, however.

Like someone already said, the multiplayer is somewhat stripped graphics wise.

I think I'm the only one who thinks that was nothing special. Jacinto on the other hand was the real only level that wow'd me.

I thought the RiftWorm was fantastic.... though im not yet at seeing the Jacinto finale, its initial presenation by Epic was underwhelming. You really never got the scope of what humanity was supposed to be fighting for, or the edge of survival the population is at. Even things like Lung Rust were barley touched on. A bit dissapointing, but Epic and storytelling has never been something that great. Oh setpieces..... The underground caverns in general looked pretty impressive, as does the locust architecture.

Whoever believes Gears 2 doesn't have amazing graphics ( the best on console so far without counting Metal Gears solid 4 non playable cinematics) has some serious reality check to look into. His opinion doesn't matter, as if someone says the Mona Lisa is a horrible painting, its his worthless absolute uneducated right.

It was quite different to everything else in a gears game. A nice change of setting, and more of a battle against the enviroment; you're inside a freaking worm, rather than battling through another war torn city.

That and it was almost a fantastic self parody of the games over the top gore. Seriously cutting your way out, and swimming, or drowning in blood is so over the top - it works well. Sure from a design perspective the level is nothing to rant about - the combat in it especially. But its everything else that makes it rather memorable.

Actually on the topic of level design, id really like Epic to use dark enviroments more often in their levels. having a really poorly lit enviroment, and shadowy figures - giving you a little bit of disorientation, and sense of the unknown would be a an awesome, brief, change of pace to the 'in your face' action.

Oh, I see. I thought above you were talking about graphics alone. I thought the Riftworm was a nice change of pace since you were more worried about the environment than shooting Locusts all the time.

Concerning your edit, there was a level like that in Resistance 2 with the "zombie" type running out of you from the darkness. It was kinda scary...

Geow2 is one of my fav games on 360 and looks great but not to the level fans want others to believe, though it still looks great (specially in motion)... still though on consoles there are other games which look better (already out) + upcoming titles which shall be released shortly..

Ahh, well graphics alone, the interior of the worm looked pretty convincing - stuff like the giant ball of... stuff being digested was pretty awesome. And this R2 level sounds pretty cool.

[QUOTE="longshotgir"] The game looks stunnig and it is the best of consoles, and it will remain king until RE5 and maybe KZ2metalgear-solid
MGS4, Uncharted etc look better and they're on the consoles.

this guys funny haha.
