Getting an Xbox One for halo 2.... I feel guilty

Whether those games are good or not is subjective. PS4 has a much larger and thus better overall library of games. That's a fact.

There's nothing to feel guilty about. If i had the money, i would buy the Xbox One for the Halo Collection in a heart beat. Personally, i consider it the best collection you can possibly get - You've got 4 games in 1080p/60 FPS, of which Halo 2 with overhauled graphics like Anniversary, each intact with their multiplayer, a set of extras, all of which nicely packed for convenience.

God.. if only i had the money. And yes, i loved Halo 2. Despite what other people have felt, i enjoyed it more than CE, mostly thanks to the fact that the painfully repetitive level design wasn't replicated in 2. Sure, the level design was more constricted, but the soundtrack, the vehicle controls, the story and the graphics where better in Halo 2, in my opinion, and the addition of dual-wielding was welcomed.

Even though Halo:CE has better co-op than Halo 2 (because the levels are more open and not as constricted), i still loved 2.

Well Socom is no more, that studio is gone so there's no more Socom. My point is you talk about MS not having any games and they have quite a few. They have exclusives and a whole library of 3rd party games. Can you honestly tell me that out of all the exclusives MS have your not interested in any of them? If so then clearly you're a fanboy cause their library of games is just as diverse as Sony's. From Gears to Forze from Sunset to Killer Instinct they touch all the bases of genre of games. You looking forward to H1Z1 well MS is getting DayZ which we all know, H1Z1 is a exact clone of that game so X1 owners aren't missing anything.

the Wii, really? i'm sure it was one of the highest selling consoles...but was it really one of the fastest selling consoles ever? i don't remember it's first year's sales being this high...i could be wrong though.

The Wii was blowing away the 360 and the PS3 in sales for the first few years. I'm about 98.7% sure that the Wii is number 1 at this point in it's lifespan with the PS4 number 2 and the X1 number 3.

PS4 has as many AAAs and the same multiplats as the Xbone does. It only has more indies because Sony didn't **** up their relations with smaller devs like MS did.

Don't feel guilty. I'm getting an Xbox One for the Master Chief collection myself. I'm sure I'll find plenty to play on the Xbox One throughout its life, but I really want that collection.

I bought an Xbox One back in June after the announcement of MCC. Don't feel guilty at all my man!

All those millions and MS barely has more exclusives and no new first party projects announced this year, what a debacle.

MCC is going to be great and on dedicated servers this time as well.Thats a big bonus too.

It's a good reason to get an Xbox One, I'll personally be playing the shit out of it. I got an Xbox One a couple of months ago after having the PS4 since launch. I haven't touched my PS4 since getting the One. It's a great console - don't believe all the negativity you hear about it. Sure it's not QUITE as powerful but it's not like the PS4 is some supercomputer. The PS4 gets destroyed against any modern PC, the difference between the Xbox One and PS4 is not that big at all. Not to mention Xbox has a much better online service, a better overall interface, and better controller in my opinion. All I know is that have I've had a great time playing Forza, Titanfall, Destiny, and the four "free" games I got through EA Access. Now I've got the Master Chief Collection, Forza Horizon 2 (still haven't gotten it yet) and Sunset Overdrive to look forward to. It's not a bad thing at all to be an Xbox owner.

The only exclusive PS4 game worth mentioning this holiday is Driveclub, which looks awesome for sure, but Forza Horizon 2 is a very worthy alternative.

@jeezers: Halo 2 has my all time favorite moment in a single player campaign. You are *supposed* to shoot rockets at the scarab while on the bridge, then move to the next bridge and repeat. Or, you could bypass all that silly nonsense and instead leap from the bridge on top of the scarab in the beginning. I did that latter the 1st time - I landed on the roof, "Rock Anthem to Save the World" started playing, I started pummeling the Covenant, and I instantly got that "This is awesome!" feeling that seems to be lacking in games now...

You really don't need a bunch of people from the internet to approve of your purchase. The MCC is going to be great. It's not enough for me personally to justify investing in an XBone, but if it is enough for you...go for it.

Hey the reason why we buy consoles is to play the games WE want to play. I dont rate the games on the PS4 thus and as a result of that I have no purchased one despite its popularity. Should I see an exclusive crash bandicoot/spyro/ other old skool PS exclusive hit the shelves in the near future il absolutely spend my money on it.

Halo is one of the greatest of all time, why not relive that gaming goodness, and its perfect preparation for Halo 5 too.

Nothing wrong with getting an Xbone to be able to play Halo! Can't wait!

Things like butterfly jumping, super bouncing, BxR. Back in the day i had both an xbox and ps2. I probably had like 60 games for my PS2 and 8 for my xbox. But even though Ps2 had an amazing collection of single player games, it couldn't keep me going like halo 2 did.

Then we had the 360 vs ps3 days. Honestly both were almost identical. Everything became multiplat, the exclusives were far between. Xbox= gears, halo (none of them were as good as 2), forza. Ps3= uncharted, god of war, ratchet and clank. Almost everything else multiplat.

So here I am, many years later and i feel like the reasons to pick up either an Xbox One or a PS4 are very slim. Their seems to be even less exclusives than the last generation.

But then i saw the game play footage of the master chief collection, and that halo 2 footage, with its shiny beautiful makeover, my favorite map lockout with its snowy blue atmosphere. Ive decided to get the Xbox One because almost everything worth playing on consoles nowadays is multiplat anyway.

I feel guilty for buying a brand new system for a game that i played like 10 years ago, at the same time it makes me realize how far console gaming has fallen. I don't think it will ever be as diverse as the xbox, ps2, gamecube days.

So what do you guys think, is it ridiculous that a game 10 years old is the one to make me want to continue into this gen, anyone else feel the same?

BRO, I literally feel the same exact way, I am only getting Xbox One because of the remake of Halo 2 and them not touching the matchmaking part of the game at all and leaving it just how it was 10 years ago.. I fucking miss Halo 2 days, loved the 1-50 ranked matchmaking system ,loved the maps, LOVED the game, Halo 2 WAS and is the shit and I am going to be being a One solely because of this game and also Halo 5, every other multiplat and other games I am going to get on my PS4, it is a little ridiculous I am buying the One for a 10 year old game, but this 10 year old game is the fucking shit and really one of the best video games EVER made in my eyes,

They announced new first party games at this years E3. We're talking about MS here, not poor old Sony...

This is what I meant, thanks. I'm sure both may turn out well, but right now, one is clearly not better than the other. Both the PS1 and PS2 had thousands of games on them, but only about 10% of the library was great. So the number of games is meaningless, only the quality matters.

I'm in the same boat. Once Halo Collection releases, I'm jumping in.

X1 is a great system with the best exclusives and best controller. Halo 2 was fantastic and I can't wait to play the remastered version.

Im not really a FPS guy but im really looking forward to the Masterchief Collection. I can finally tolerate playing through Halo 3 without having a headache because of the jaggies :P

Ive got the mcc pre-ordered. This is how you do a remaster. 4 games with added levels. Not games that came out last year like tlou and gta v, even though they are 2 of my favorite games ever.

Halo 2 was disappointing to me back when it came out, the first game was huge and the second game felt smaller by comparison. However, through time I found Combat Evolved less accessible of a game, it just felt dated but Halo 2 still feels very playable by comparison, it has much better story even if the game is shorter. And of all the games in the Master Chief collection, Halo 2 is really the only one I would want to play, I'd much rather play Reach and ODST over CE and Halo 3 or 4.

Like you, I own and enjoyed Halo 2 both LAN and over Xbox Live.

However, unlike you, I already own the Xbone. I own and enjoyed all the Halo games. I loved Halo 2, and it's that love and overkill is the reason I'm NOT buying the Master Chief Collection. I played that game to death. Hell, I still own two copies and two original Xboxes when I did LAN parties. When I buy ports to games I already own, it feels like a complete ripoff unless I get it severely discounted. These ports are good deals to those who don't have the games however (or never played them), but that's not me.

Maybe next xmas for $20 when Halo 5 is out, but I've moved on and got my fill of those games. Hell, I still own all my Halo games. It's a good deal, sure, but it's not for me.

So, I don't need help convincing me to buy an Xbone, but as a Halo fan I'm not even picking up the port. I didn't pick up the Zelda HD port, Metro Redux, Tomb Raider port, or The Last of Us Port either. Again, I own all of those so I'm waiting for FRESH, NEW experiences to power on my Xbone.

Have a good time with the Halo purchase OP. I wish I felt the same way. I already own an Xbone so I'll be ready when Halo 5 releases, but the port collection just isn't my thing since I already played them.

I remember the midnight launch for Halo 2. I still have two collector's editions. I just can't spend top dollar again on titles I have sitting in another room again.

Do you include all the shovelware that was released for the console? Because in NYC at least, the Wii section was always bigger than the PS3 and 360 section. I know you may played only 4 games per year on it, but that doesn't mean only 4-10 games per year were released for it. Which was my point. The PS1 and 2 had the most games released for them in their gens, but I could play as many Xbox and Gamecube games to say that it wasn't the far and away better because of game SIZE library. Which is what Sagemode87 is suggesting.

@cainetao11: I just wanted to speak on my Wii owning situation with regards to library. The Wii was such a strange anomaly in that while it did get a lot of shovelware (as leading consoles inherit), unlike the PS2/PS1/SNES/NES, the Wii however wasn't powerful enough to handle the major 3rd party multiplats that released on PS360PC during that generation. The PS2/PS1/SNES/NES/Atari etc all got the big multiplats in their day.

The Wii had a lot of shovelware though true, but it also got passed on many 3rd party games in the gen. Whatevs, this reminds me of debates I had yesteryear and I don't want to get sucked into one of those again as I have a big day tomorrow, so I'll gracefully bow out and head to bed, lol.

For this Fall/Holiday what are the big games for PS4? Drive Club, Little Big Planet....and....uummm.... yeah.....

Yet here we are in this thread with certain cows deluding themselves and others into thinking that the XOne is not worth it. The fact is that there is absolutely no "buzz" or excitement for the PSBore fall/holiday lineup. It's garbage. Hell even if the Xbox One only had Halo: The MasterChief collection coming out this fall this one title alone holds so much tradition, enjoyment and popularity that it already single handedly makes the ps4 Fall lineup (if you can even call that a lineup) look like trash. Now add games like Sunset Overdrive, Forza Horizon 2 and D4 in the mix and it's no contest.

Kinda a stupid thing to say. Do you say the same to people still playing Quake, Unreal, Diablo 2, World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy 11 etc etc? Halo 1 and 2 had phenomenal online that is no longer properly available anywhere else (the windows versions weren't nearly as good).
