[QUOTE="bri360"] This is around my 2nd time buying one and does anyone else feel, the more you buy them, the more of a complete rip off it is? I know that live is currently the best one out their but seriously... It isn't THAT great. Especially compared to PC which is free btw. Its nothing special and p2p not only makes a fee unnecessary but t also makes live much much worse. About 70% of the time, someone else im playing against lags like hell, it makes the whole room lag, like in gears because of no servers.
And my most hated thing about live (and every console online actually) is no lobbies like what PC games have! Every PC game, because of dedicated servers etc can sustain lobbies that you are able to log into and look around at all the games going on. This makes everything much easier, much more organized and less random. Plus you can easily make a room with all your friends, both join someone else's games and the whole experience is just overall better.
These subscriptions arnt cheep either, at first 50$ doesn't seem like much each year, but over time thats quite alot wasted on something alot of people dont even use all the time. So why do we still have to pay, it just doesn't seem to be worth it anymore. M$ is going to eventually push away buisness for next gen especially if they dont do something.

Well, you don't have to pay. Cancel your subscription and go back to playing PC games online. I'm getting sick of people coming on here complaining about paying $50 measily bucks for an online service. You don't complain about paying for your ISP do you? You don't complain about paying for cable service? What about cell phone service?
With XBox Live you are paying for this --->http://console.hardocp.com/article.html?art=MTIwOCwxLCxoY29uc29sZQ==
You money is paying to keep the XBox Live Center up and running. All your account information, achievements, high scores, win/losses, game title info, demos, HDTV shows, etc,,, are stored on servers there. It cost money to keep the servermaintained and running. It cost money to lease the building and pay for the staff. Sony is actually paying another company to run their servers. Not sure how long that will last as they are going to lose another billion for their 4th quarter because they dropped the price of the PS3 twice in less then 6 months. lol!!Thosefigures should be interesting come next year. Anyway,Sony is only paying fortheir gameson those servers. Other 3rd party companies are running their own servers and they can easily pull the plug on their online games if they see that people are playing it online. That won't happen with XBox Live.
MS has a server for things like accout info, and all the dl's. This isnt exactly the most expensive server to keep maintained. If they had servers for multiplayer then mabye, just mabye their might be a real reason to charge. They have adds, dl expensis etc that would more than cover the costs of these servers. They just want to make even more of a profit from something they dont need to make it from. Also no I do not complain about my cable bills etc because everyone charges for those, and their is a reason for charging.
Live is the only one that charges for online out of the consoles and they shouldnt be. Oh and even with servers a game gets taken down from online, it doesnt happen for a long time when almost nobody is playing and they could also have p2p once its taken down just for the few that might want to play later on.
