***Getting Xbox 360 & PS3, What to Get?***

First I was only getting an Elite Xbox 360, but where I live in BC,Canada, the School District made some new decision to refund Summer School fees, so I'm getting the $750 back (2 courses)...and my parents said I can use it and get both systems now!

I'm already planning on getting an HDTV with a good surround sound theatre system, probably an LCD from 50"-56"

Anyways, which games should I get and what accessories? I don't want to blow lots of money on games since in the upcoming months there'll be many new games coming out. I'm a fan of mostly Shooters, so that's what I'm looking at

PS3: Resistance

Xbox 360: Gears of War

I'll probably just get those for now, need to save up for the upcoming months.

What I'm looking to get for 2007 is:

Xbox 360

• Assassin's Creed
• Bioshock
• Mass Effect
• Halo 3
• GTA IV
• Call of Duty 4

PS3

• Haze
• Unreal Tournament 3
• Uncharted (maybe if reviews' are good)
• Lair (maybe if reviews' are good)

Those are the games I'll considering so far for the rest of this year. I may consider Warhawk or Socom after reviews, because I don't know much about them, though I'd prefer Call of Duty 4.

I'd say the Xbox 360 lineup looks better for me, but nonetheless I'm excited to get both! I honestly really wanted to get a PS3 mainly because of Blu-Ray, and I'm excited for that.

What accessories would I need for either console? I guess I'd get Xbox Live and a wireless controller. I guess a Quick Charge Kit, and Rechargeable Battery Pack.

Damn I'm excited :) I still don't know what HDTV LCD 50-55" to get though, limited to Bestbuy and Futureshop in Canada.

Anyways, any other games I should look out for?

Also looking forward to getting some nasty Blu-Rays: Planet Earth, Kingdom of Heaven, 300 especially.

Those damn money milkers are going to be releasing the Lord of the Rings Blu-Ray Theatrical Release, cash us out, and then later release the Extended versions...damn who the hell wants the Theatrical release. Bah...that's my favorite movie :(

He should get Ut2k7 on the PS3 because.

1) It comes out this year for the PC/PS3 only.

2) You can use mods on the PS3

3) You can use a mouse/keyboard on the PS3

and a few other, lesser reasons.

So you can only afford two games? If that's the case

$1500? No..I was getting an Xbox 360 PLUS a 50" HDTV LCD w/ theatre system.

Now after I got an additional $750, I'm chucking that on a PS3 + games.

So...

Reason I'm only getting those two games for now is because I want to save for all of those others coming in the upcoming months!

UT3 Releases in 2007 exclusively for PS3 with all of the PC user created mods FREE of charge, and will have mouse/keyboard compatibility.

UT3 Releases on the 360 sometime in 2008 with only a few mods selected by MS which you will have to pay for through XBL.

Oh yah, forgot about Uncharted! I'll look into Ratchet after its reviews, since at first it doesn't look like my type.

Btw, I'm a Lemming at start. But fellow lemmings, PS3 does have some good games. Both have ther advantages imo

Otherwise, you will get a crappy receiver 99% of the time. You just need to pick out some nice 100w speakers and a powered sub. I'll find some for you.

Well, for the money I'll be squishing in, I'd be getting a PS3&Xbox 360 and some games as well as Blu-Ray movies. As well as that Samsung 52" LCD HDTV (for the other guy, those are recommended over Samsung I think...). Now with the leftover money I'd like to get a surround system of course.

So don't spend too much on it, you can say it's similar to getting a Wii over PS3 because of less $, if that's a good comparison, lol. Well..

Also..I was thinking of getting a Samsung DLP first around 56" which is a huge size but some people say DLPs wouldnt be good...I guess 52" is still sexy :) what's recommended "feet to sit away" from a 52"? Just makin sure my room's size is good, there's different opinions on that on the net.

Get GTA4 on the PS3. The PS controller is much better for games like GTA.

Planet Earth is a smart choice, and obviously 300 will rule, I think it comes out at the end of the month.

I also live in Canada, and I just bought an LCD HDTV. Go to Costco (you can be a member now without owning a business, $55 bucks for a card), check out the ViewSonic brand. $1250 bought me a 42" LCD HDTV that does 1080p. I have no idea why it's so cheap, but it looks great, and $1200-1300 is pocket change for a TV as nice as this one.

And when exactly are they releasing the new X360 model with the smaller chip? The reason I wanted to get it right now (and over PS3 before I found out I could get both) was because of the games coming out soon in the upcoming months, like Halo 3, Mass Effect, and I didn't want to miss out on em. The PS3 would be for Blu-Ray and some of the exclusives I'm interested in.

That's a pretty nice reciever.. But exactly how much do you want to spend on a reciever and speakers? In my opinion you might as well just buy a home theatre system you will save quite a bit of money and you will still be able to shake your house.

You left out LittleBigPlanet! :shock: How dare you? LBP looks freaking awesome now that I've seen the gameplay video. Definitely one of a kind and something that might appease both hardcore graphics/tech-wh**** and casuals alike.

I don't think even the smaller chip is supposed to solve the heating issues (at least I haven't heard anything about it fixing them). They had a chance to fix it with the Elite, but the Elite still has the RRoD problem. If it wasn't for the RRoD thing, I wouldn't be waiting until Halo 3 to buy my Box, but I figure if I can restrain myself I can probably squeeze more life out of it, or maybe a more reliable version will be released.

The US's dollar is worth more than the Canadian which makes things in Canada more expensive than in the US...I lived in Canada AND New York so I know...Get the Samsung LCD...
