Everyone has their opinions. I'll just offer mine if you care to read, I have both the PS3 and 360.

I won't talk about games out, but I'm personally looking forward to:

PS3: Metal Gear Solid 4, Heavenly Sword, Pain, Infamous, Final Fantasy XIII and Vs., White Knight Story etc...

360: Mass Effect, Lost Odyssey, Call of Duty 4, Unreal Tournament 3, GTA IV, Halo 3, Blue Dragon etc...

I only will choose the 360 version over the PS3 due to my greed for achievement points, and I have 2 controllers for the 360 already and would rather not spend money on extra controllers if necessary.

The biggest reason I'd be getting a PS3 also is for Blu-Ray pretty much.

3) You can use a mouse/keyboard on the PS3

LastSamurai14

Why is this a positive thing?
Who really wants to sit on their couch with a keyboard and mouse and play on their laps or coffee tables? It isn't comfortable, and it distorts the balance of the game. Players that use the conventional PS3 controller are at a disadvantage, so the game alienates these people and may be a huge casual turn-off which could damage the online community. If you're one of those gamers that considers themselves "hardcore", I feel sorry for you.

I only want Blu-Ray for a few things. But when a movie costs almost as much as a video game, that's kinda sad. I have a hard enough time paying more than 15$ for a DVD now.

First I was only getting an Elite Xbox 360, but where I live in BC,Canada, the School District made some new decision to refund Summer School fees, so I'm getting the $750 back (2 courses)...and my parents said I can use it and get both systems now!

I'm already planning on getting an HDTV with a good surround sound theatre system, probably an LCD from 50"-56"

Anyways, which games should I get and what accessories? I don't want to blow lots of money on games since in the upcoming months there'll be many new games coming out. I'm a fan of mostly Shooters, so that's what I'm looking at

PS3: Resistance

Xbox 360: Gears of War

I'll probably just get those for now, need to save up for the upcoming months.

What I'm looking to get for 2007 is:

Xbox 360

  • Assassin's Creed
  • Bioshock
  • Mass Effect
  • Halo 3
  • GTA IV
  • Call of Duty 4

PS3

  • Haze
  • Unreal Tournament 3
  • Uncharted (maybe if reviews' are good)
  • Lair (maybe if reviews' are good)
  • Heavenly Sword (maybe if reviews' are good)

Those are the games I'll considering so far for the rest of this year. I may consider Warhawk or Socom after reviews, because I don't know much about them, though I'd prefer Call of Duty 4.

I'd say the Xbox 360 lineup looks better for me, but nonetheless I'm excited to get both! I honestly really wanted to get a PS3 mainly because of Blu-Ray, and I'm excited for that.

What accessories would I need for either console? I guess I'd get Xbox Live and a wireless controller. I guess a Quick Charge Kit, and Rechargeable Battery Pack.

Damn I'm excited :) I still don't know what HDTV LCD 50-55" to get though, limited to Bestbuy and Futureshop in Canada.

Anyways, any other games I should look out for?

Also looking forward to getting some nasty Blu-Rays: Planet Earth, Kingdom of Heaven, 300 especially.

Those damn money milkers are going to be releasing the Lord of the Rings Blu-Ray Theatrical Release, cash us out, and then later release the Extended versions...damn who the hell wants the Theatrical release. Bah...that's my favorite movie :(

andyb1205

Im getting both an elite and PS3. I already have my PS3. I can't wait to get my surround and HD TV. I only have 180$ right now so I have to save up 1500$.

There are way too many games on both systems to pass up. PS360 is your best bet. And with that combe you can always get the best multiplat version.

Example

Halo 3, MGS4, Resistance 2, Gears of War 2, Mass effect, FF13, Soul Calibur 4, Dead or Alive 5, White knight Story, Folklore, Halo Wars, Tekken 6, and so much more. Seriously. I love my PS3 to death but I gotta show 360 some love too.

Yah, I just can't possibly get every single game, but they both got their share of AAA or really good AA games.

I like getting most if not all multiplat games for the 360, because games comes out earlier on the 360 than PS3, developers just seem to work with the 360 better, and I like achievements. I'm not much of a movie HD movie collector but movies in Blu-Ray are awesome. And if you're searching for a nice LCD, check my sig, or go to CNET.com and browse their HDTVs. Samsungs are one of the highest rated there. Also check out this site for more hdtv ideas and audio ideas: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=166

Yah I found that website earlier today and damn those forums are very informative!

The TV I've already decided on is the one you got, except the 52" version :)

Audio though I have no idea for, Home Theatre in a Box suck it seems. I'll go for the Onkyo 605 Reciever ($700 CAN, $600US) and it's got a crazy review on CNET. Still need speakers/sub though.

But since you've got that TV, how is it? :) I heard they're really good if there's not much light around, and in my room it will be dark! Also..how far do you sit away?

For 360: Gears of War, Guitar Hero 2, Halo 3, Bioshock, Dead Rising, Mass Effect

For PS3:Resistance, Motorstorm, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, MGS4, Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, Uncharted, Killzone 2, UT3, Haze, Ratchet

For either: R6V, The Darkness, GTA IV, Assassin's Creed, Burnout Paradise, DMC4, Army of Two, Rock Band, Guitar Hero 3, RE5

I'm basically buying all of these games (besides mass effect, i just put that in there cuz that's a game to look at and see if u like it) so that's why i recommend them

So you can only afford two games? If that's the case

360- Rainbow Six: Vegas

PS3- RFOM or The Darkness

monsternachoman

The only exclusive game on that list is Resistance.

In my opion, he should get an exclusive for each system, but get three games in total. His third game should be the best next-gen multiplat game as of yet. Oblivion of course! In my opinion, here's how it should go:

360 - Gears of War

PS3 - Resistance: Fall of Man and Oblivion.

Now before you guys all go "360 Oblivion is better because of Achievements!" You have a point, but the PS3 Oblivion comes with Knights of the Nine, The Orrey, The Thieves Den, etc. etc. packed with the game, and in the 360 one you have to pay extra. Altough you can get Shivering Isles with the 360 version, but still, it's not that great of an addition to the 360 one when you weigh it against getting all the others for free.
