Update! Sony adds more details to the product page

However, as spotted by members of the ResetEra forum, some new information has been uploaded to the game’s official PlayStation.com page. There’s not a whole lot to feast on here, but it should help raise your anticipation for the release.
The blurb starts: “300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima, a new warrior – Atsu – rises from the ashes of her homestead.
“Filled with fury and determination, Atsu will hunt down those responsible for the death of her family and exact her revenge.
“Every odd job and bounty will provide the coin she needs for her journey. But how she fights, survives, and evolves the legend of the Ghost, will be up to you.”
So, it sounds like you’ll have a lot more authorship over what type of playstyle you adopt this time, and that’ll be augmented by a new arsenal of weapons.
“Ghost of Yotei features new mechanics, gameplay improvements, and even new weapons for Atsu to master, including ōdachi, kusarigama, and dual katanas,” the summary states.
There’s also a little overview of the sandbox itself.
“Ghost of Yotei takes place in the lands surrounding Mount Yōtei, a towering peak at the edge of Japan's snowy northern region,” the page explains. “In 1603, this area was outside the rule of Japan – a wild frontier filled with sprawling grasslands, icy tundras, and unexpected dangers.”
And as you’d expect with first-party studio Sucker Punch at the helm, this is going to be a visual tour-de-force on both PS5 and PS5 Pro.

Just in case anyone was starting to worry about the fact that we've seen nothing from Ghost of Yotei since its reveal last year, a quick social media post has reiterated that the PS5 exclusive is still on course for its promised (if vague) 2025 release.
Said post comes from developer Sucker Punch's communication manager, Andrew Goldfarb. Promoting open positions at the studio, Goldfarb reiterates: "Help us launch Ghost of Yōtei this year."
Of course, what everyone wants to know is when we'll next get to see the Ghost of Tsushima sequel. Sony is as secretive as ever when it comes to its first-party projects — of course — but if Yotei really is dropping within the next nine months or so, then it probably needs to be reintroduced relatively soon.
For what it's worth, our money is on a summer blowout of some kind, followed by a launch date later in the year. But PlayStation does tend to work quite quickly these days with regards to marketing cycles and subsequent release information; a sudden Yotei showcase and summer launch certainly isn't outside the realms of possibility.
Thoughts, SW? Do you think Yotei will still release in 2025? Sony has Death Stranding in June, and then they have some time after that, but probably can’t wait too long if they want to avoid GTA 6 release In the fall. I think it will happen.
