The controller has built in speakers for the headset. The sound will still come from the TV. If it works like the Wiispeak does than the mic does not pick up the sound from the TV, it only picks up your voice. Don't ask me how it works. HarlockJC
WiiSpeak is connected directly to the Wii, right?
Edit: Connected through USB.
Haven't ever taken a look at it so this is just a lot of assumptions right now, but because it has a direct connection, sound can be sent directly to WiiSpeak. Your TV speakers, regardless of how high the volume is set, will emit the same frequencies as the sound files given to WiiSpeak, so the frequencies can be eliminated, allowing only your voice to go through.
Edit: Wait, all headsets have to have connections, so never mind that part. What was I thinking? :P
Anywho, yeah, Wiki isn't helpful to me, but traditional recording of sound involves a mic recording physical sounds. However, because headsets are fed digital sound (D-Out, as I call it) and convert them to physical (P-Out) as well as take in physical sound (P-In, which is essentially P-Out plus your voice) and convert to digital (D-In), it's possible to compare D-Out and D-In to filter out everything but your voice, resulting in the final sound input.
