Because we have seen so much better from the new systems. Even if we are supposed to compare it to other PS2 titles, is it really fair to give this game a graphics rating on par with Gears of War?

Actually, I'm curious. They've said for mulitple PS2 games that "this game is one of the best looking games ever on the PS2" and still give it a nine for graphics. What more do they want on the PS2?
Lol, After reading the IGN scores I knew it would have a similar score here. GS always finds a way to put up funny numbers in the individual parts of the score.
I'm more upset about the 8 in value. A 12-15 hour game with great replay value (according to other sites) and a whole other disk with many bonus fteaures.

sometimes endings like that are bad look at halo 2... it was obvious they were leaving u ending but it was horrible how they did it... and 10 maybe for graphics but 9.2 is still good
I just love the "bad" part where they just try to grasp for straws. The end leaves you hanging? No ****, every second installment of a triology will leave you hanging. I'm not saying 9.2 isn't a great score (it most certainly is) but GS is really doing this to make people angry.

marginally better than GOW but not worth a whole point. I have in preordered and I think 9.2 is an awesome score many thought being a sequel but more of the same would score less than the original. Still a 9.2 vs the originals 9.3 is still a great score. I was thinking a 9.0 or 9.1 at best.

In all fairness, GS didn't like the Half-Life 2 or Halo 2's endings as well.

No, that's not how the rating system works. Not only are games not compared cross-platform, but standards change over time. A 9.0 in 2005 is not a 9.0 in 2006.

Perfect Dark Zero holds AA at Gamerankings. It's not as overrated as you people think. Sure, AAA is generous, but it could be because it was the first next generation game, and there was no standard at the time? PDZ today would have gotten probably AA or A. Not AAA. As for GRAW, that's probably the game that started next generation standards. It was a great game, I don't see what's wrong with that score. :| Resistance got AA perhaps because of the high standards and hype the PS3 had? People say the PS3 is capable of much better graphics and power than the 360, then the games should be flat out noticeably better. I think Gamespot has lowered it's standards of what the PS3 will and can offer, now that they've finally realized that almost all the pre hype was BS and that Sony underdelivered. Expect some PS3 AAAs soon.
